Lynsted Park is a wonderful country house, located near Faversham in Kent. It's history gives it geunine charm and character: built in 1559 it was the seat of the Earl of Teynham and more recently it was home to the creator of Dr Who. Lynsted Park is now a family home set in parkland with acres of Tudor gardens, encircled by stunning walls and hedges.
Lynsted Park is a fabulous place for an outdoor summer wedding. Liscensed ceremonies take place in the secret, sunken garden that sweeps down from the magnificent front lawn. It has a lovely Georgian gazebo at one end, in front of which up to 200 guests can be seated.
The beautiful South Room in the house is also available for ceremonies. It's perfect for small and intimate Ceremonies and winter wonderland weddings. It has a parquet wooden floor, high ceilings and a grand fireplace. French doors lead from the South Room onto the York stone terrace where roses and clematis climb the walls and surround a pretty fountain. The South Room can accommodate up to 50 guests, with some standing.
A gentle stroll through the main garden brings you to where the Receptions take place with views of both the house and the cricket pitch. Here a Reception marquee, yurt, or tipi works brilliantly. While most people follow their ceremony at Lynsted Park with their wedding reception here too, it is perfectly possible to just do the ceremony or the reception part - whatever works for you.
