George Street Chapel is a wonderfully charismatic Grade II* listed former chapel. With its extensive heritage and its great location in the heart of Oldham, Greater Manchester, this venue is ideal for your wedding day.
The Chapel was built in 1815 but has been sympathetically renovated in a simplistic style to allow you to add your own personal touch. This venue is a blank canvas for you to build your perfect unforgettable day.
There is no other venue in the area which can offer the character or ambience of George Street Chapel that still boasts all the modern facilities needed to host your big day.
Set over three floors the chapel is a flexible, inspiring and intimate setting for you and your guests to enjoy. Take a look at the main chapel area, the gallery mezzanine floor and the lower ground floor.
If you are looking for historic features including original box pews, a stunning restored working organ and an awe-inspiring carved wooden altar then you will love our ground floor chapel.
The mezzanine gallery floor is an additional vista so all your guests can see every magical moment.
For your big celebrations the lower ground floor offers a great space with bar and audio facilities so you and your guests can drink and dance the night away. We really want to make your day perfect so we pride ourselves on being as flexible as possible but still maintain our excellent value for money.

Thanks for making our day absolutely perfect.
Having decided to get married and wanting the celebration to be small, intimate and local, George street chapel was the ideal setting for our wedding. During our first viewing of the chapel, we instantly knew it was the place for us. The staff were obliging, allowing us to arrange our appointments with them in an evening and at weekend, and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We asked for a meal that was less traditional than you might expect and got exactly what we asked for, wholesome and tasty Lancashire fayre.Sent on 13/02/2018
The staff worked with us to ensure the seating arrangements were as we wanted, again less traditional, but it enabled our friends and family to see all that happened, rather than looking at our backs. The flowers were stunning and again, exactly what we wanted.
All in all, nothing was too much trouble for all staff concerned making our day absolutely perfect. Thank you to all involved.

Perfect for a civil wedding, a hidden gem
We found the George Street Chapel on-line when we were looking for a wedding venue. My family run a bar/function room so we only wanted somewhere to have the marriage ceremony. When I saw the photographs on-line I knew instantly it was the right place for us. I have always lived in Oldham and I had never noticed this building. We booked it without a viewing. A few weeks later we went up and met Sue, who showed us round. We were blown away. We had 50 day guests and we felt it was perfect.Sent on 14/02/2018
The George Street Chapel also has a beautiful room in the basement for the reception. We would have used this room under different circumstances.
We only had one more visit back to the Chapel before the wedding (even though we could have had more) where Sue helped us decide how to set the seating in the centre of the Chapel and we also sorted music etc. My father is disabled. Sue informed us of the entrance in the basement and the lift that he could use. We also booked the 2 parking spaces at the front of the Chapel for the wedding car.
On the day of wedding everything went to plan. Some of our guests choose to use the upstairs seating but majority used the seating on the main floor.
I could not recommend this venue enough. Perfect for a civil wedding but also good for any other occasion. I feel it is a hidden gem and not many people in Oldham have been as lucky as us to find it.

Pleased we chose this venue for our renewal
On May 1st 2017 my husband and myself renewed our wedding vows. On the very day we married 20 years before. It was a bank holiday, but the staff were so very accommodating. Our venue was George Street Chapel. At one point once our date was booked we had to change times due to people coming from afar. All this was taken in the Chapel staffs stride. We were asked about layout, who sat where even asked about special menu's, for vegetarians or gluten. Everything was thought about and catered for. The meal was due to start at 2.30pm but people got lost and didn't start until late 3.15. Even with that delay the food was amazing. Bar staff were helpful. We were asked when and what kind of dressings we required for our special day and evening chose balloons so they could be let off with the names of missing loved ones.Sent on 14/02/2018
We could not have asked for more . It really did become the most amazing day ever. We were so pleased we chose this venue for our renewal. The chapel is beautiful and so was our day.
