Congratulations on your engagement and forthcoming wedding. We are delighted that you are considering us to celebrate your special day.
If you are looking for something a little different we pride ourselves on being able to offer exciting wedding packages, at a range of historic venues, at The University of Manchester.
The Christie's Bistro is a room which is full of the University’s history and provides a stunning backdrop to any wedding. Equally impressive as the building is it set within, its secluded setting is ideal for the more intimate weddings of up to 140 guests.
The Bistro was built in 1890, and orginally was used as the new Study of Education - the Christie's Library. It was a donation from the former law professor, historian and bibliophile Richard Copley Christie - whom you can now see in our fantastic stained glass windows lining the stone staircase to the main entrance.
One hundred years later, after the building of the main University of Manchester Library, the Christie Science Library was converted into a Bistro, steeped in the institution’s history and character, with portraits of previous Vice-Chancellors gracing the walls and endless rows of original books and manuscripts.
