Short Legs Dog Care is a Cheltenham, Gloucestershire-based company offering something different with wedding day dog care and walking. Owner Christine Fowler has owned and loved dogs all her life. She set up this business to allow her clients to share their special day with all of their loved ones, including their furry friends. Chris is a gentle and kind soul who treats every dog as if they were her own, assisting with photoshoots, dog walking and sitting at the event.
Services Offered
Short Legs Dog Care work alongside wedding venues to ensure that couples get to experience the joy of bringing their four-legged friends along to their big day. A range of services are offered to make sure that your dog is cared for while you are enjoying your wedding event. These services include but are not limited to:
- A pre-wedding meeting to discuss your timeline of the event
- Collection of your dog on the day of your event
- Ensuring your pet is present at the ceremony, reception and for photos
- Feeding, walking and playing with your pet before and after the ceremony
- Looking after your dog at your accommodation

The best dog chaperone for Stone Barn
Chris made our wedding unforgettable by ensuring our Buddy was an integral part of the celebration. Her personalized and professional service, coupled with a genuine love for animals, impressed us from the start. She ensured that we were able to capture heartwarming moments as well as ensuring our dog's safety and comfort. Her adaptability, attention to detail, and commitment to creating a stress-free experience for both us were truly outstanding. Amazing care for our ring bearer !!
Short legs were amazing from start to finish. We had a zoom call with Trish a few weeks before the wedding and introduced her to Rico, we talked her through a rough plan of the day and she suggested timings that fit perfectly with our schedule. Rico LOVEEEED her immediately, and we were kept up to date with pictures of him before she returned for the ceremony. Rico was our ring bearer and Trish handled this brilliantly, it went without a hitch. We really appreciated how flexible she was with our plan for the day, and Rico ended the day happy (and exhausted!). We were initially weren't sure if we needed someone on the big day, and thought maybe friends could look after him, but having a designated carer for the dog on the day makes everything so much easier with everything else going on. Can't recommend more highly!

Couldn't recommend enough!
Where do we start! We cannot thank Chris enough for looking after our two dogs during our big day.
She was super flexible and cared for our dogs as if they where her own!
You could tell instantly that our dogs felt safe with Chris, and we didn't have to worry about them for one second as we knew they where in safe hands!
Her communication throughout was amazing and we have been recommending her to all our fellow dog parents!

Reliable and assured your dog is in good hands !
Booking Chris to look after our dog Bentley on our wedding day was the best decision. We did not have to worry about him at all and logistically Chris was fabulous! Bentley was awaiting his big moment with Chris before walking down the aisle and afterwards joined us for photos and our wedding reception before Chris took him back to her home. She also collected him and dropped him where he needed to be! She was fabulous and extremely reliable. I have recommended to all my friends with dogs who are getting married!

Can't thank Chris enough for looking after our Labrador Harper on our big day! Everything from booking to the day itself ran smoothly and it was fantastic to see how happy and relaxed Harper was with Chris. It was amazing being able to fully enjoy our day knowing he was being well cared for. Plus having him at the wedding itself was a dream come true ❤️

Amazing service!
We can’t thanks Chris enough for looking after our Milo on our big day. It was amazing to have him there with us and having Chris took the stress away for us and our guests. Communication was fab as Chris was always responsive. Milo also spent the night with Chris to allow us the freedom to enjoy the whole wedding!

Fantastic!!
We found Chris through our recommended suppliers from our venue. She was so responsive and helpful in the build up to the wedding, making sure we didn’t have to worry about penny. Chris arrived with penny at the perfect time ready for our confetti walk and photos. She blended in perfectly and looked like a guest. Penny was so well looked after and chris was amazing the whole day! I would recommend Chris to anyone looking for dog care during their wedding!

Best decision, worth every penny!
We found Chris through our venues recommended suppliers and we are so glad we did, what a find ! Chris looked after Barney during the day of our wedding and had him into the evening with Barney being dropped back off to the venue the day after. She was absolutely fantastic with Barney and he felt so comfortable with her, which is how we knew we had made the right choice!!! It enabled us to relax knowing he was well looked after and also involved in our wedding as this was very important to us! Chris helped out with our wedding photos and managed to get Barney looking at the camera. I absolutley recommend Chris, she is clearly an animal lover and looks after your dog as if they are her own. Thank you Chris.

Best Decision of our Wedding Day
Christine at Short Legs Dog Care was the ultimate professional when it came to being our Dog Chaperone for our Wedding day. Christine ensured our 2 year old Golden Retriever Riley was walked and thoroughly exercised before his starring moment as our ring bearer - which ensured he was not over-excited, all the extra energy had been expended and Riley executed his task brilliantly, and stole the show! Chris then took charge and ensured Riley was looked after for the entire duration of our day - putting our minds at rest, ensuring both ourselves and our guest were free to enjoy ourselves. Riley was completely at home with her, and trusted her implicitly, it was a joy to witness, and many of our guests commented on how well our dog was behaved. We whole heartedly recommend Christine as a trusted companion for your four legged family, it's a wonderful experience to have your dogs with you on your Wedding day - the photos with our Golden Retriever Riley, and the footage of him walking down the isle are some of our most precious memories. Christine is well worth the price tag.

Worth every penny
Chris and Trish we're just brilliant from initial enquiry to our wedding day. They did a wonderful job if looking after our dog Teddy and we cannot thank them enough for making us feel reassured so there were no worries Ted was in good hands. Would highly recommend! Teddy loved it too.

The BEST dog chaperone for our dog Ginny on our wedding day
Well what can I say!! Chris was absolutely fantastic from the start! We could not have asked for a more professional and wonderful person to chaperone our dog Ginny on our wedding day! Chris was there for Gunny throughout the whole day and ensured that Ginny was comfortable as well as making sure she was involved in as much of our wedding day as possible. Totally made our day to have Basil there.
Basil our Jug is a huge part of our lives and we wanted him with us on our special day to be our ring bearer. Chris made this totally possible, looking after him beforehand and then taking care of him when he was tired and needed to go and rest. She was wonderful, he loved her and it meant so much to us. The day was complete with him there and it was thanks to Chris. I would always highly recommend. Thank you so much Chris.

The best wedding decision we made!
We knew immediately that we wanted our pup to be at our wedding - we'd already chosen a dog friendly venue, but were worried about giving one of the guests the responsibility of taking care of him all day. I found Chris while scrolling through Instagram and just knew straight away she would be perfect and care for our pooch as if he was hers. We met Chris a couple of months before the wedding so she and Cooper could get to know each other - Cooper is a Covid pup and we were super nervous about leaving him with someone new all day. He's never been apart from us! On the day Chris collected Cooper and took him to the venue and took care of Cooper right until the end of our evening reception. We got to have some really lovely photos taken with our pup and will always cherish those memories - this was easily the best decision we made for our wedding, Chris made us and Cooper feel at ease, the whole process of booking and meeting with Chris was super easy and I couldn't recommend Short Legs enough! Thank you so much xxx Cooper & Mr and Mrs Mellor! :)

100% would recommend Chris!
SO happy with how smoothly it all went for our wedding, Aussie our miniature poodle can be abit reactive and not always great with new people but he warned to chris straight away as she handled him so well! She took him from our cottage and arrived at the wedding venue with him, kept him out of sight within the ceremony until his big moment bringing the rings (which everyone loved)! Followed us round for photos and then brought him back to our cottage, chris is so so lovely and made us feel so comfortable throughout the day. She is super friendly and we felt so happy knowing our little pup was in safe hands!

Helped to make our day perfect
We contacted short legs dog care very last minute after our dog care fell through. From the very start Chris was quick to respond and flexible to accommodate what we wanted. We were concerned that our dog wouldn't be able to cope with being at our wedding but Chris reassured me and was even flexible on the day when our dog got too stressed out. Even though our dog had never met Chris she was very happy all day and we had some lovely photos. I would definitely recommend to anyone on the fence about whether to include their dog on their big day like we were, it helped to make our day perfect and we are so very happy that we went with short legs day care.
