Marble Wedding Cakes: 11 Amazing Designs

There's a new cake on the block - the super stylish marble cake

Marble is one of the hottest wedding trends for 2017. We’ve seen it on the catwalk, interior design, homewear and jewellery, so it was only a matter of time before it caught on at weddings and we love the idea of incorporating it into the wedding cake.

A marble finish is achieved by kneading together different shades of fondant for an amazing smooth finish. In total contrast to the more rustic naked cakes, marble screams luxury and glamour. Take inspiration from these marble designs, but be warned - they look so good you won’t want to eat them!

This design pairs a modern marble finish with a traditional four-tiered wedding cake. The single flower is a nice touch, but you could add a cake topper or fresh flowers to give it some more detail. All of Suggared Saffron cakes are baked to order in a range of delicious flavours, including salted caramel and raspberry & white chocolate.

This show-stopping cake combines two of the most decadent trends; marble and geode cakes. The beautiful edible crystals cascade down all three tiers, making it look as though the cake is full of precious turquoise stones. It’s no surprise this cake has been a big hit, baker Racheal Morris explains “The overwhelming response to the cake has been beyond my wildest expectations.”

Traditionally, marble is super luxurious but that doesn’t mean it won’t work if you’re going for more of an understated theme. This cake from Baked Seattle is a perfect example of a simple but effective marble design. The marble finish works perfectly on this hexagonal, two-tiered cake and the gold edging finishes it off perfectly.

If you like the idea of marble but are nervous about going for the full effect, this design from Happyhills Cakes is a great compromise. The hexagons give a hint of marble, but the white icing keeps it light and traditional. All cakes are made individually so you can customise the shape and colour to suit your style.

Marble cakes tend to come in darker shades which may be off-putting to colour-loving couples, but this bold design from Lemon Tree Cakes will add a burst of colour to your day. The multi-coloured marble design stands out perfectly on this white cake stand and is a bright alternative to some of the more traditional cakes. Artist, Pam hand-makes her creations, ensuring that it truly complements your day. If you're looking for more ways of adding some colour to your nuptials, check out our colourful ideas

Many people shy away from marble as it has the potential to look quite harsh, but this pink cake from the Humming Bird Bakery is the perfect example of how marble can still be super pretty. You can select the number of tiers and the size of each one depending on the size of your guest list. Humming Bird offer a selection of sponge flavours, including chocolate, lemon raspberry and their famous red velvet.
