Kate & Gareth's Real Wedding - Upper House Wedding Ceremony

About this photo

Gareth and Kate became husband and wife in an intimate wedding ceremony in the grand lounge at Upper House, in the morning. In the afternoon they had a blessing led by a reverend under a tepee in the ancient courtyard, with views over Kinder Scout.

Kate walked down the aisle to Ellan Vannin, a Manx poem by Eliza Craven Green which was put to music by J Townsend. This was played by Graham Eccles from the Cheshire Consort on the keyboard. As she walked she carried a beautiful bouquet of vibrant flowers arranged by Martha Hale. The florist brought Kate’s vision to life with striking blue orchids and delphiniums and yellow roses and ranculus.

During the wedding ceremony the Cheshire Consort expertly recited three anthems, including John Rutter’s choral set of ‘For the Beauty of the Earth’, which Kate and William chose to have at the royal wedding.

The couple exchanged rings that were custom made in Dubai’s diamond quarter. Gareth’s ring was based on a ring Kate had given him for his birthday and featured white and rose gold detailing, as he wanted a memory of the past to take forward into the future.
