About SWJ Photography

Honest, natural and creative wedding photography making you feel celebrated for exactly who you are. As a documentary photographer I make sure that I capture the real moments rather than making a couple do anything that feels fake or forced. At the end of the day, for me, a natural laugh looks so much better than a forced smile. I move mountains for anyone I work with so that I can help take the stress out of a couple's day to make sure you're relaxed and enjoying yourselves on your special day.
Wedding photography is a big investment and I make sure I am always on the other end of the a phone or email for all of my couples so they know I am just as invested in them and their wedding day. I really take my time to build a rapport with people I work with so on the wedding day they feel that they know me well enough to ignore me.

So looking for a photographer who is friendly, approachable and celebrates you for who you are then get in touch, let's have a brew and talk weddings!

  • "A very good friend helping us enjoy our day."

Nikki - Amazing photographer. I hate having my photo taken and me and my husband could not have been more looked after if we tried. He was amazing in every situation. Deffo recommend and only person we will ever use for anything. Thank you so much for helping make our day so special. Daniel - Stephen you certainly lived up to your promise of taking natural fun loving photos on mine and Nikki’s special day, I felt like you weren’t a photographer making us feel awkward in front of a camera but a very good friend helping us enjoy our day for what it was and capturing it bit by bit naturally with an amazing outcome. Highly recommended.

  • "Thank you capturing the day so perfectly."
This testimonial was entered by SWJ Photography on 2 May 2018

Stephen helped with everything which was something I’ll always be grateful for! From helping with my veil, assisting the DJ setting up to cleaning red wine off the dance floor before our first dance so that my dress wasn’t stained, nothing was too much for him. He completely captured the spirit of our wedding, family and friends and put my husband and I at ease when we usually hate having our photos taken. Thank you so much!

I offer two main packages. A half day at £600 which covers the ceremony until the end of the speeches so allows you to the enjoy the evening without interruption or a full day package at £1150 which covers either a pre-wedding shoot or the morning preparations then the ceremony right the way through until after the first dance

All packages include at least one consultation to get to know each other better, an online album with free downloads and black and white duplicates and 100 miles of travel. My all day packages also include a USB in a customised wooden presentation box.

How far in advance should I contact you?

I usually get booked up between 2 years and 18 months in advance of a wedding, but as long as we have time to meet up and talk about your day as little as 4 weeks before is possible.

Do you cover more than one wedding a day?

On your wedding day you have my total attention. I only every do one wedding per day.

Are you able to travel?

Yep! I, thankfully, love driving so willing to travel all over the UK or the world if necesarry.

What is the charge for travelling?

100 miles of travel is included, and it's 0.45p per mile after that.

What style of photos do you take?

Natural, relaxed and more documentary style. I still do some posed photographs but I still try to keep these as relaxed as possible.

I use digital photography but try to use natural light as much as physical possible.

Do you offer any tool to display the photos online?

I use secure online albums where photographs can be downloaded, favourited and shared easily.

What''s the delivery time for photographic report?

I usually get photographs across between one and two months.

Do you send all the photos taken?

No, usually around 75% of what I take on the day is sent across.

Do you work alone or do you have a team of professionals?

I work alone. This way I can guarantee it will be me who you work with and me who is there on your day offering assurance and helping you relax.

In case of unforeseen circumstances, do you have a replacement photographer?

I always have a back up plan. I've never had to cancel a job so far, I've even done one wedding when I had food poisoning as I refuse to let people down.

Do you have the rights to publish the wedding photos?

Yes, it's agreed in a contract that I can use images for advertising purposes unless other wise stated and the couple are granted a license to use the photographs as they wish.

Do you charge per hour or per event?

I charge per event, a price is always agreed and set long before the wedding day so there are no hidden surprises.

If needed, would you be able to work extra hours?

Extra hours can be added for an additional charge, but usually I work to a set event (ie the first dance) so time isn't a pressure.

What are the forms of payment?

I prefer using a bank transfer so that payments are easily tracked and traceable for both sides.
