Sam Baly is an experienced photographer and videographer based in Bristol, UK. He specilalises in filmic and cinematic wedding photography that is both timeless and nostalgic.

As a photographer nothing is more enjoyable for me than weddings. I love to blend into the background and shoot candid images of your special day as it unfolds, with a bit of direction here and there to get the epic shots you'll want to frame.

I believe that your wedding day is not all about taking photos though, so I'll work efficiently and quickly with formal shots to help you get back to the party asap.

About My Style

I started my career as a videographer but have similar experience with photography, and I like my photos to resemble my films - elegant and timeless but with a romantic, nostalgic element. I believe that in a world where most wedding photographers' work looks the same, it's good to stand out, and my couples are often drawn to my work because it's a little bit different. My colours are inspired by analog film. I like natural film grain, and I use cameras that faithfully emulate actual film emulsions. All this without looking too vintage but bringing some warmth and nostalgia to the party. I also love a cinematic aesthetic, so there's a healthy dose of movie-inspired colours in my work, too.

Authenticity

Authenticity is important to me and that's why I like to capture most of my images of the day naturally in a documentary style, however during couple portraits sessions I also like to add a bit of editorial flair to help you look your absolute best. I do this through movement and prompts that elicit natural emotions, which are much more fun and memorable as an experience than static and awkward poses.

I care deeply about my couples and strive to create a positive and easy going vibe that is unobtrusive, but when called for is fun and memorable.
