Frequently Asked Questions
What is the price of your service?
The up to date price list for all services can be found on my web site. Wedding packages range from £300 to £1995, but I will offer you a tailor made package, if you cannot find one that suits you.
What services do you offer?
I offer comprehensive, innovative and unobtrusive wedding photography that reflects unforgettable moments of your day and will provide you with images to treasure.
What does the wedding package include?
Depending on the packages one or two photographers for the required time on the day (but we don't clock watch!) An engagement session is always included.
How far in advance should I contact you?
To secure your booking, you should contact me no less than 6 months before the wedding to avoid disappointment. Ideally a longer time, especially, if your wedding takes place in June, July or August when demand is typically high.
Do you cover more than one wedding a day?
No, never. I make sure I pay full attention to you and have some wriggle room, just in case the day does not go quite as planned for whatever reason.
Are you able to travel?
Yes, I cover Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and part of the Cotswolds. I also travel further afield, but these destinations might attract mileage/expenses charge.
What is the charge for travelling?
My standard rate is £0.47 per mile.
What style of photos do you take?
It is in partly up to you and what your ideas and wishes are. We meet beforehand, so that I can discover as much as possible about what you would like to see and what your vision is. Of course, I will also make many suggestions, based on the venue, the structure of your day and any special requests!
What kind of technology do you use?
I have a number of high end digital Canon cameras and accessories, as well as equally advanced Elinchrom flash equipment.
Do you use a specific technique or innovative approach?
Firstly I always find out about what you want to see, rather than giving you what I think you should have! I have a relaxed and not intrusive approach, so you can spend the time with your guests and not the photographer! That said, for group shots I do take charge, so that we can do them well and in as short a time as possible- nobody likes to hang around!
What kind of equipment do you use?
I use a range of high end Canon camera equipment and accessories, as well as Elinchrom studio lighting (when required). I always have a number of sets of kit with me at every shoot.
Do you offer any tool to display the photos online?
Your images will be displayed in an online gallery on my web site, so it is nice and easy for you and your guests to see selected results early on.
What''s the delivery time for photographic report?
Delivery times depend on the package. It is typically one week for packages that are delivered on a USB stick and up to 6 weeks for the largest album I have on offer. I will always confirm delivery dates individually for all bookings, so that you know what to expect.
Do you send all the photos taken?
I will always aim to give you the maximum possible amount of images taken, however, I edit the images to achieve a balance and tell the story of your day.
Do you work alone or do you have a team of professionals?
I am the proprietor of the business, but work with 4 long standing colleagues and friends. You will always see me at a wedding, but I match other photographers for best fit with my couple.
In case of unforeseen circumstances, do you have a replacement photographer?
Yes, as I have a team of 4 long standing colleagues and friends working with me, I also have photographers to fall back on in an emergency who I know and trust.
Do you have the rights to publish the wedding photos?
Yes, the images are high quality and licensed to you, though I retain the copyright.
Do you charge per hour or per event?
I charge per event and you will see this approach reflected in the all inclusive packages you can find on my web site.
If needed, would you be able to work extra hours?
Yes, but I would appreciate advance notice (if possible) and of course it may be subject to an additional charge.
How do you charge extra time?
Extra time usually means that a package of a longer duration might have been more suitable. In that case I charge the difference in price between the packages.
What are the forms of payment?
Payment methods include Bank transfer, cheque or cash.
How do you work?
I have been photographing weddings for over 20 years. In that time the wishes of the couples I have photographed have changed, and so has my style. I am far less formal than I used to be, but I do think that some personal shots, sensitively done and beautifully created, need to be part of the package. Group shots are important to me, as families get together less often now, so it is a brilliant opportunity for family shots. Most of all I love the prestige and privilege that a wedding means to me, so I want to capture the emotions and excitement of the day.
What is the booking process?
You pay a 50% deposit to secure the day. You then settle the balance once I deliver the product to you, so you know exactly what you are getting.
What is the best and the worst thing about being a wedding photographer?
The best thing is to be part of someones' special day. The emotions I can observe are priceless and it is such a privilege to be there. The worst situations are when couples feel that one thing or another about the day is not working out (for example it rains) and get upset about it. I feel I want to remind them, it's all about them and their marrying each other and the joy that brings.
My Top Tip!
Make a scrap book to show your photographer with images you like, wherever you find them. It will give them a good idea of what you are after. Don't hesitate to speak to your photographer repeatedly about what's worrying you, so they have a chance to help with any questions.
