What is the price of your service?
All-day coverage starts at £999, including all your photos on USB at a size good for viewing on screen or printing at 6"x4". You also get my unique same-day slideshow at your reception, your photos online for at least two months, and a free sitting for a pre-wedding portrait session. It's easy to add an album (starting at just £300 for a coffee table album with 60 photos) or video coverage (starting at £400, including your fully-edited video on DVD or Blu-ray). A booking fee of £250 secures the date for you. The balance is due no later than one month before the wedding. How far in advance should I contact you?
Most couples plan at least a year ahead, sometimes two or even more. Having said that, I have been able to provide wedding photography for some couples with only a few weeks' notice, if you happen to pick a date I am not already booked :-)
Do you cover more than one wedding a day?
No. I give you my full attention from getting ready through to First Dance.
Are you able to travel?
Prices include travel within 50 miles of home. There will be a reasonable mileage charge beyond that.
What is the charge for travelling?
I charge just £1/mile after the first 50 miles.
What style of photos do you take?
My style is natural and relaxed. I aim to be in the background for most of your day. You might even forget I am around, but I won't be missing a thing! The one exception is if you want group photos, I'll work with you to complete them as quickly as possible.
What kind of technology do you use?
I use up-to-date pro-quality DSLRs and lenses, combined with off-camera flash where appropriate. I also have my own laptop, projector and sound system for your same-day slideshow.
Do you use a specific technique or innovative approach?
I love colour. I am super-careful to get your colours accurate, whether in daylight or artificial light of various kinds.
I also love a natural look, for example when shooting outdoors. The extreme contrast you sometimes get means that preserving highlight detail is a technical challenge, and I use a variety of tools to achieve that in a way which will look effortless in the final image.
What kind of equipment do you use?
I'm a Canonista :-)
Do you offer any tool to display the photos online?
Your photos will be available in a dedicated gallery on my website. I can also provide a link for you to load the photos into a free app on either iOS or Android.
What''s the delivery time for photographic report?
I will invite you round to see all your photos for the first time just a few weeks after the wedding. If you are quick to choose your album photos, I can have the album in your hands inside two months.
Do you send all the photos taken?
No. I select the best photos - ones you will treasure - and I save you from having to sift through thousands of shots to find them. I often take several shots around a special moment, but only one of them will truly capture the depth of feeling.
But don't worry, there are still typically 300-400 unique photos of your day to enjoy. It's quite common for couples to complain that I make it really hard to choose their favourite 100 photos, as there as so many good ones!
Do you work alone or do you have a team of professionals?
I work alone. This keeps things simple and non-distracting on the day.
In case of unforeseen circumstances, do you have a replacement photographer?
In emergency, I have various other photographers I can contact to help out, but in seven years, I haven't needed to do that.
Do you have the rights to publish the wedding photos?
As is normal, I retain copyright of all photos, but I give you permission to print and copy the photos I deliver to you. As part of my contract, you give me permission to use your photos for promotional purposes.
Do you charge per hour or per event?
I charge per wedding day.
If needed, would you be able to work extra hours?
Yes, either pre-arranged, or on the day if things run late, I can stay beyond the normal 10 hours.
How do you charge extra time?
Extra coverage is charged at £50/hr. I would never run into overtime without checking with you first that you wanted me to do that.
What are the forms of payment?
I prefer bank transfers, but I can also accept card and PayPal payments
How do you work?
I work quietly, quickly and helpfully :-)
What is a same-day slideshow?
It is a 5-minute presentation of some of your ceremony photos. The slideshow is animated, and has appropriate backing music. If guests were not at the ceremony, it really helps them to feel involved in your day.
And of course, it means you get to see some of your photos straight away! It's also sure to get Mums and Dads all emotional again :-)
I prepare the slideshow during the wedding breakfast using photos straight out of the camera. I then set up to project it at the start of your evening Reception. Most couples have the slideshow maybe half an hour after evening guests start arriving, then they cut the cake, then have their First Dance, and the evening is away.
I frequently get very positive feedback about the slideshows, especially as so few people have ever seen one before at a wedding reception.
After the wedding, I update the slideshow with the fully-edited versions of the photos, covering the whole day. It is then available on DVD.
