About John Erskine Photography

Based in London, but travelling across the length and breadth of the country to capture weddings in his distinctive and beautiful style, John Erskine Photography is the attentive, skilled, and intuitive wedding photographer you’ve been looking for.

The key to a successful wedding photographer is the ability to see and capture the key moments of the day, without intruding on them. Through his years of experience travelling the globe with his camera, John has mastered this art, allowing him to take wonderfully candid pictures of you and your guests as you celebrate saying ‘I do’ to that special someone.

Beyond just the candid, ‘photojournalist’ style of photography, John is always looking for creative, fun staged shots to create throughout the day. Whether that be playing with the light available, or simply getting his subjects to relax into the shots, there are few that manage to capture those tender first moments as a married couple quite like him.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of your service?

Summer weekends start from £1695, subject to availability. Contact me to discuss midweek or Winter weddings.

What services do you offer?

I specialise in Weddings, offering anything from fly on the wall documentary style to Wow shot fashion inspired glamour.

What does the wedding package include?

All day coverage from me and my assistant, high resolution images and FUN!

How far in advance should I contact you?

As soon as you have a date, really. I don't hold dates, it is first come first served and I shoot a limited number of weddings every year. I need a life/work balance to look after my 3 kids and my couples.

Do you cover more than one wedding a day?

Are you able to travel?

YES! I've shot everywhere from 5 minutes down the road, to Scotland, Ibiza, Cyprus, Crete and even travelled as far as Sydney, Australia to shoot one couples wedding.

What is the charge for travelling?

When you enquire I will include any travel costs. For destination weddings this is more complex, but my experince in this can guide you through that with a smile.

What style of photos do you take?

I like to think that I don't have a set 'style'. I like clean images, but allow myself many influences and shoot "in the moment" for many of my creative shots. Everything from natural light sunset silhouettes to bright and light or hazy afternoon glow. Take a look for yourself and see if I'm the one for you.

What kind of technology do you use?

I am constantly updating and refining my way of shooting. This involves professional digital cameras from Canon and Sony at present, not to mention a vast array of lights and various other equipment. If you're geeky about that kind of thing, give me a call for a chat.

Do you use a specific technique or innovative approach?

The client comes first? It's your day. I'm there to help and, although my focus will be on the photography, I've done everything from doing up a pregnant bridesmaids shoes to helping with hangovers, button holes, zips and dress/car emergencies.

What kind of equipment do you use?

Lots and lots of professional equipment that you don't need to worry about. Suffice to say that I use a fraction of the kit in my car on most weddings. Lots of it is there "just in case".

Do you offer any tool to display the photos online?

We offer a password encrypted private viewing gallery for you and your guests.

What''s the delivery time for photographic report?

Every couple and wedding are unique and so processing times vary as a result. Images are normally delivered inside 6-12 weeks. Ask me about this and I'll explain why rushing is not a good thing.

Do you send all the photos taken?

I select all of the best images that tell the story of your day. Whether that is 500 or 1,000!

Do you work alone or do you have a team of professionals?

I have a team, but I am the main photographer.

In case of unforeseen circumstances, do you have a replacement photographer?

Ask me about this. In short, yes.

Do you have the rights to publish the wedding photos?

I retain copyright, yes. If you would like privacy that is fine as well. You get a full personal use licence.

Do you charge per hour or per event?

Per event for weddings, with an hourly rate if you wish to extend the coverage.

If needed, would you be able to work extra hours?

Yes, subject to conditions.

How do you charge extra time?

What are the forms of payment?

Bank Transfer, Cash or Card (these may be subject to handling fees).

How do you work?
