Richard put us at ease right from our first zoom call. Always willing to help and wanting to genuinely get to know us and what we wanted for our wedding. Booking during covid was obviously a nervous time but nothing was too much trouble for Richard. Had great communication from the beginning to getting our photos. Over the past year or so we’ve had the absolute pleasure of having Richard Murgatroyd as our wedding photographer. From our initial zoom call we didn’t even want to speak to any other wedding photographer as we were 1000% certain we wanted Richard to be our photographer. Richard is more than your usual wedding photographer, he is a genuine nice guy who takes a real interest in getting to know you and what you want to achieve from your big day. During the lead up to the day, not only did Richard support us with his services, he also provided valuable advice and even shared his personal recommendations too. On the wedding day itself Richard went above and beyond, and was truly incredible!! There really are no words to describe just how awesome he was! He made us all laugh throughout the day, and also helped to keep us calm too. Not only were we completely blown away by Richard, so many of our guests went out of their way to tell us how impressed they were with him too. Yet most importantly, the photos themselves just speak volumes!! Richard is extremely talented in being able to capture the key moments of the day, and as a result the photos turned out way better than what we could have even hoped for. We were so happy with Richard as our wedding photographer, from when we first spoke he made us feel at ease, being very friendly and approachable, and we are delighted with his photos. He really captured every element of the day, the people, the fun and the enjoyment, and lots of things we didn't get a chance to notice ourselves. We also appreciate his post shoot editing style, being understated and really documenting the day in the colors and tones we saw them.

We had a pre-wedding shoot to get ourselves more comfortable with how the process would work, he was very flexible and traveled to a location of our choosing, which made it feel very personal. This pre-shoot made the wedding day run more smoothly as we knew what to expect and it was great to get to know him and feel relaxed with having our photos taken. He also really took the time to get to know what was important to us as part of our day.


We feel Richard gave good value, for the excellent experience and quality that he provides in his work. His easy going manner helped us relax and enjoy the time shooting, we felt the opportunities when we went off for photos added to the day by giving us a chance to catch our breath, rather than taking away time. He melted into the background, we hardly knew he was there, in the best possible way, but equally many of our guests commented on how great he was.

Before I nailed down any other details, I knew that we had to have Richard shoot our wedding! Richard is not just super talented, but also the nicest, friendliest, organised, knowledgeable person - from the initial wedding planning phase, to the day and also after! Even when the pandemic hit, Richard did everything he could to make sure we could postpone our date with the least stress possible. We have just received our wedding photos and have both been going over them nonstop. All the moments that we had either forgotten or wasn’t there for, Richard had captured them all perfectly and bringing us back to a very emotional day. The tea ceremony photos are very special, beautifully candid and polished at the same time. And all the portraits! I know these are going to be cherished for years to come by us but also the guests. It was so wonderful to see how much fun everyone had as well at the party. Every photo was beautiful, thought through, and I can't wait to put them in frames.

We couldn’t have asked for anyone better than Richard for being there on our wedding day capturing all the small moments amongst the big ones. He is such a great presence and energy to have around you and we felt so comfortable with him when emotions were high. I was worried I’d feel awkward having lots of photos taken but meeting Richard to have the pre-wedding chat put a lot of that at ease and, when it came to the day, it was like he was one of our friends coming to our wedding who was there from start to finish. Richard just naturally brings a calming and fun energy that makes it really easy to be around him.

The photos Richard took of our wedding are honestly incredible - we both looked through them and it was like being transported back to the day. He has captured so many subtle interactions and looks, both amongst our guests as well as between us as a couple. Looking through the photos made us feel all the love from our wedding again, it’s such a special feeling. When we’ve showed them to guests, they’ve said the same thing too!

The only hard thing is that Richard has taken so many incredible shots that we have so many to choose from - we said to him that we’ll need to have wallpaper made to have all the ones on the walls that we loved. Choosing a few to have frames feels almost impossible - it’s a pretty good problem to have. Richard has entirely nailed his profession and love for what he does.

The photographer is one of the most important suppliers you can choose for your day. You spend more of the day with them than anyone else and we’re so glad to have had Richard with us on June 3rd at Prior Park in Bath.
From helping orchestrate family photos whilst navigating guest politics for us, to capturing shots I couldn’t have even imagined being in our final photos, he checked all the boxes for us. Where do we start?! Richard is a fantastic documentary photographer, and the photos he did of our wedding were stunning, really capturing the joy of the day! After scoping out the venue, he had a clear vision of what he wanted to capture for couples shots, but also took our wishes into account. Not only this, Richard went above and beyond on the day by managing other suppliers and timings when things unexpectedly changed, and he was really unobtrusive for our guests. This took a lot of burden off our shoulders and really meant we could just enjoy the day.
Communication before and after was easy and he’s very responsive. We can’t recommend Richard highly enough, you’d be lucky to have him at your wedding!

Where to even begin... Richard photographed our wedding at Pembroke Lodge in August this year and was just incredible from the start to the end of our wedding journey. He is so much more than just a photographer! Navigated us through planning in a pandemic, was so understanding when we made the decision to postpone, recommended other suppliers he had worked with (who were also amazing) and knew our venue inside out which was such a big help. I am so pleased that we also decided to do a pre wedding shoot. It gave us a chance to really get to know each other and feel a bit more comfortable in front of the camera before the big day. On our wedding day itself Richard could not have done more to help things go smoothly and keep us calm! He helped us keep to schedule while making sure we had time to get the photos we wanted, all while dealing with a couple of slightly over zealous family and friends with cameras of their own. Absolutely INCREDIBLE.... is all i can say about Richard! Instantly clicked with Richard when i met him at a wedding fayre two years ago and was won over by his beautiful photographs. I knew we had to book him for our special day in Amalfi, Italy. Richard was a total professional and it is clear how experienced he is at what he does. My husband and I knew we wanted Richard to photograph our wedding within about a minute of meeting him and seeing his portfolio. It was immediately obvious that we were dealing with a real talent and the standard of his portfolio was a whole other level. Richard is also incredibly warm and welcoming and will put anyone at ease. I’m very shy in front of the camera, but Richard felt more like a friend at our wedding, meaning we have some wonderfully warm and personal photographs, that another photographer wouldn’t have been able to capture. You can also relax because he installs a total confidence that he has everything in hand, because he does! I can’t describe the value that has on the day! Richard was a total joy to have at our wedding and one of the nicest guys you could hope to meet. We felt extremely lucky to have him photograph our day and treasure our photos.

We were married at Hedsor House this August and quite simply, could not have had a better photographer to go with a perfect location. He was patient, kind to our guests, amazing with our kids and all the others there, he did not stop running around to get perfect pictures (bear in mind it was 33 degrees that day!) and made us, and everyone else, feel totally at ease throughout. Plus somehow, he made me look decent, must be the editing process.
