About Liotta Photography

Natural Style of Wedding Photography

Hello, I'm Gaston, thank you for stopping by.

I am a commercial and documentary wedding photographer based in London.

My style of photography focuses on telling stories by capturing natural moments, genuine emotions, personalities and the true spirit of the occasion. My approach consists of photograph your wedding in a relaxed, friendly and unobtrusive manner and if I am doing my job well for most of the day you should not notice me. I like to think of myself as a guest with a camera mixing in and getting the real story.

When you look back at your images you’ll remember what you were feeling, rather than what you had been told to do by a photographer.

This is so important!

When you look at your wedding album, you can be transported back to the moment; you can almost re-live the memory of your dad seeing you in your dress for the first time, or the moment you oh-so-nervously glanced towards the ceiling as your bride walked down the aisle…and that’s because your photographer captured the moment naturally, without any direction.

As soon as people know they’re being photographed, they change, whether this is to put on their ‘camera-face’, or to change whatever it is they’re doing at the time because they think it may not look too good. The irony is that as soon as they do either of those things, they often don’t look their best – people can look unnatural, stiff or awkward when they ‘think’ they’re doing what looks good.

On the other hand, when people are captured totally naturally – when they don’t know they’re having their photograph taken – people look their best: Natural, beautiful…themselves. Because capturing the real you, well, that’s what beauty really is.

Your wedding will be unlike any other – totally unique because it’s your wedding. So why would you want your wedding photos to look like everyone else’s? Shouldn’t they be just as unique as your wedding? That’s where my style of documentary wedding photography excels!

Conversely, traditional photographers will deliver the same images as everyone else’s, because they’re controlling the scenes; putting you into the same poses, asking you to re-create the same ‘putting on make-up’ shot, asking you to stand in the same window light for the exact same bridal portrait they’ve done a hundred times before. Suddenly, the images aren’t about you, or your wedding, but instead are about the photographer; their poses; their method.

There are so many things to be thinking about at your wedding, you can relax and just enjoy your day, safe in the knowledge that all those important moments are being captured. I will find and capture the stories that you didn’t even witness yourself on the day. You can literally look at your wedding images, and see things you didn’t even know had taken place. Pretty magical, I think!

Obviously I will take a few formal portraits of the couple and traditional group shoot if you want me to.

If you want someone with a slightly different and alternative look to the regular wedding photographer, then we should work together...

Please get in touch with any questions. Many many thanks!

Gaston was brilliant thought the whole process in the lead up to, the day its self and post wedding in help, communication and professionalism. Pre wedding we had a Skype call with him to tell him how we wanted our wedding captured and he guided us through his recommendations which we were totally on board with. On the morning wedding he went and captured some really special moments with my now wife and all of her bridesmaids. Really beautifully detailed photos of all the laughs and tears (of happiness I hope!). At the venue we left him to do his thing and we couldn't be happier with the results. He's so good at capturing people in a natural way, all the bits you'd miss if you just stuck to the traditional posed photos. He stayed with us all the way up to the first dance and he was incredibly helpful and happy to capture anything you wanted, and things you didn't know you wanted. Post wedding he's been in touch regularly, sending us the photos as and when they're ready. Honestly couldn't recommend this guy enough. He's given us something we can hold onto for the rest of our lives together. Thank you Gaston and your lovely wife for helping to make our day so special.

"Thank you, Gaston, for the experience and happy time that we shared during our pre-wedding shooting. We were in very good and professional hands also we had such a great time. The places and time were carefully selected and Gaston gave us lots of ideas in terms of poses and how to be prepared. He is very good in capturing lights and shadows which expressed us in an even romantic way. We are very happy with the results and definitely will recommend him to our friends and family."
