About Ted Thompson Photography

I photographed my first wedding back in 2004 and since then my own documentary photo-essays have been published in international magazines and media including the BBC, CNN, National Geographic Magazine, Newsweek Japan, Greenpeace Magazine, The Guardian Weekend Magazine and The Sunday Times Magazine Spectrum Supplement (U.K). I've completed over 800 professional photographic assignments for various clients including the United Nations Association, The Telegraph Magazine, Audi, and GQ Italy.

I'm a very compassionate and emotive photographer, you can see this in the genuine moments I capture. Having worked as a portrait photographer for The Telegraph, The Guardian Weekend Magazine and GQ Italy I can also make posed portraiture and nice group set ups. I am well adept with lighting and many a rainy winter wedding group shot has been saved by me producing a portable lighting kit out of the boot of my car.

  • "Ed was the wedding photographer we thought we were never going to find!"
    Ana on 13 August 2017

ANA & PAUL | YORKSHIRE. 2014 The energy and passion Ed had for capturing those special, funny, real and honest images was endless and as a result we have the most wonderful photographs of our day. He exceeded all our expectations and quickly became a part of the wedding party without ever feeling intrusive. We wanted documentary style pictures without missing out on some of the more traditional group shots and Ed covered it all, his experience and eye for telling a story are very apparent in his work. Thank you!

  • "Warm, genuine images with a documentary style and artistic flair"
    Ned on 11 August 2017

We highly recommend Ed! We have a beautiful record of our wedding that really captures the spirit and joy of the day. Our wedding was in the middle of the French countryside, not the easiest location to get to but Ed had no problem finding us. Ed is friendly and unobtrusive, but also highly dedicated and professional. He directed us when the time was right but mostly just left us to enjoy the day. We often forgot he was there but when we look back at the photos we realise he was everywhere. We wanted warm, genuine images with a documentary style and artistic flair, thats exactly what Ed gave us.

What is the price of your service?

I have two packages and they cover everything. I am also pretty flexible and will do pretty much whatever you ask, yep. It doesn't have to be difficult. Let me know what you want. My packages include all day coverage, travel expenses and a set of large beautiful 10 x 12 inch digital c-type prints and a small 'thank you' photograph for every one of your guests.

What does the wedding package include?

A full days coverage with a charming, positive and laid back photographer. I usually shoot around 1500-2000 photos per wedding and will make a smaller pre-edit (500) for you to select 100 photos for me to magic a little. Then from that 100 you can pick 30 photographs to have as lovely large top quality digital c-type prints. I also will print a small thank you photograph for you to send out to all your guests of your favourite photograph.

How far in advance should I contact you?

Whenever you like, if I am free I will cover your wedding. If its last minute I don't change any extra.

Are you able to travel?

What is the charge for travelling?

A day rate of £250 for each full day of travel, travel expenses and hotel expenses.

What style of photos do you take?

Reportage photography with portraiture. This basically means I capture life in the act of living, true moments. But I also will pose group shots and set portraits too.

What''s the delivery time for photographic report?

The faster you get me your selection of final images the quicker I can get them back. My fastest ever turnaround for a couple moving to Australia was 24 hours.

As a documentary photographer with 15 years experience who has worked regularly for the worlds leading magazines I find I can cover a wedding on my own.
