About Jean-Luc Benazet Photography

Welcome to my Hitched profile.

Award-winning highly recommended wedding photographer in Cambridge since 1998, I know most wedding venues in Cambridgeshire as well as all Cambridge University colleges. I am a friendly and unobtrusive photographer who has got a great eye for people and wedding photography. I will capture the fun and emotional moments of your big day in the distinctive style that has made me so popular over the years. Check my wedding photography portfolio for examples of my work.

Since getting married myself in 2011, I came to understand that a wedding day flies by very quickly, and it is important to capture as many memories as possible within such a small amount of time. I favour photographing happy people and guests having fun, as well as very simple and intimate moments between two beings in love. I will also provide you with a number of final images superior to my competitors.

  • "Truly professional"

Jean-Luc's high-quality images have given us a memorable record of the day and the photos capture moments that made the day so special. I was struck by his sensitivity to the occasion - whilst we had formal photographs where his presence needed to be evident, there were also many times where he worked unobtrusively. His images reflect his interest and passion for photography. He has an open and straightforward approach to the business side of things and I found him very customer orientated and a pleasure to work with. I write this as a keen amateur photographer and as "father of the bride" and so was very involved in selecting him for the job. I was subsequently the main contact point after the event. I am particularly aware that there is a significant difference between a truly professional wedding photographer and some of those who make that claim; Jean-Luc is definitely in the former category.

  • "We couldn't b happier"
    Riana & Rob on 18 December 2017

Jean-Luc photographed our wedding in September and he did an absolutely wonderful job! He really captured the feeling of the day and we couldn't be happier with the way the photos turned out. He is also very easy-going and a pleasure to have around. We highly recommend him!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of your service?

A full wedding photography day coverage costs £1,500. But we also charge a hourly rate, both price lists are available on my website. If you cannot find what you are looking for, do not hesitate to contact me.

What does the wedding package include?

All my wedding packages include: One photographer (myself) • Wedding photography coverage for the number of hours chosen • 50+ pictures per hour • Post processing of your images • Online gallery for you, your friends and family to download images for free (prints start from £1.99 for 6x4) • USB flash drive of your high resolution images

How far in advance should I contact you?

Contact me as soon as you know your planned wedding date, I get booked up ahead of time, and it's important for you to book your date in my diary as soon as you possibly can. I always meet couples beforehand, either locally or on Skype to make sure they get the chance to ask me as much as possible before putting pen to paper.

Do you cover more than one wedding a day?

No. I only cover one wedding per day, that way you know that you can still add extra hours if you're enjoying yourself too much and would like me to capture it.

Are you able to travel?

I am happy to travel to any UK destination. I have captured weddings in England, Scotland and Wales in the past. I'm also open to photograph destination weddings. I've extensively traveled to France for weddings as well as Tuscany. I'm a native French speaker and I can prove an extra asset if you are planning to get married in France.

What is the charge for travelling?

Travel is free of charge throughout the UK for packages of 8+ hours outside of Cambridgeshire. Otherwise I charge 40p per mile (round trip).

What kind of equipment do you use?

I only use professional Nikon equipment. All my lenses, flashes and accessories are also Nikon ones. That way I am able to insure optimum quality throughout.

Do you offer any tool to display the photos online?

Yes, all my online galleries are displayed in Smugmug online galleries, which are very versatile. You get your own private link and nobody else can see your images unless they have the exact link. All my downloads are free of charge for you, your friends and family. My prints start from £1.99 each for 6x4s.

Do you send all the photos taken?

After the wedding, I will work on all the photos taken in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, and deliver the best ones back to you. Unlike most of my competitors in Cambridge, I do not limit the number of images I deliver. I tend to say I will deliver 50 final images per hour you've booked me, but the final figure is most likely to be more than that.

Do you work alone or do you have a team of professionals?

I always work alone and have done so for the last 20 years, unless you specifically request an extra photographer, who can be booked at an extra cost. I sometimes come with a second shooter or an assistant, but I will warn you in advance if this is the case.

In case of unforeseen circumstances, do you have a replacement photographer?

In 20 years as a wedding photographer, I had to find a replacement only once after a family bereavement, I was however back in Cambridge on time for the beginning of the wedding, and managed to join in after 4 hours. I'm a member of various emergency photographers groups, as well as part of the Cambridge Photographers Ltd company which employs 7+ photographers. You would be fine.

What are the forms of payment?

You can pay by cash, cheque, bank transfer, credit card or Paypal. Our favourite means of payment is via bank transfer but you are free to use any that suit you.
