About Greg Lumley - Photographer

I'm a portrait and wedding photographer specalising in creative wedding photography. My work is quirky and fun without being cheesy. When called for I revert to a documentary style so as to be as unobtrusive as possible. I think it's really important to keep things light so I joke around quite a bit. If you are laughing at me or with me it doesn't matter. As long as you're laughing is all!

Just what is "Creative"

In my case it's about lighting. I love to capture dramatic images using the surroundings ambient lighting. It sounds very complex but really it's all in a days work for me and I get a thrill out of supplying images that simply wow my clients!

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you cover more than one wedding a day?

Absolutely NOT

Are you able to travel?

What is the charge for travelling?

My travelling charges are for Accommodation, Flights and Car hire, pretty much what you'd expect.

What style of photos do you take?

My pictures are more contemporary but not for the sake of it, some pictures are not meant to be "arty"

Do you use a specific technique or innovative approach?

I'm not fond of static poses, they look fake and contrived. Instead I create "setups" which I direct in a way that gets my subjects to interact, the resulting pictures end up looking natural and "real"

Do you offer any tool to display the photos online?

All my clients get a free user-friendly password protected online gallery for 3 months. Images can be ordered and selections for albums made. The wedding couple can even hide pictures they wouldn't like to viewed by their friends.

Do you work alone or do you have a team of professionals?

I work alone as I find it less obtrusive and I'm more creative without distraction.

Do you charge per hour or per event?

I have hourly packages which start from first photo taken. Overtime is charged on a per hour basis after the package allotted time runs out.

What are the forms of payment?

How do you work?

My style of working is to be as discreet as possible when needed. I don't like getting in the way if possible. During the getting ready phase more interaction and fun create great pictures provided there is low stress. For the ceremony I am a fly on the wall and don't interact or get in anyone's way.. it's a special time and needs to be recorded as is. For family I'm assertive but always try to joke and make it fun... the assertive part is key! It's like herding cats!! If possible I have a bossy bridesmaid or groomsman assist in getting people arranged, this speeds the process up tremendously! For couple shoot I like to include the bridal party for the beginning then work with the clients. I don't like to drag out a couple shoot if possible however it's best to give me enough time to give you the great pictures you've paid for too! In reception I go back to being a fly on the wall but will do "snaps" of groups together. These pictures won't win any awards but they're great to have nonetheless. Nightshoot! This is my thing, if my couples are up to it a 20 minute nightshoot is a must, really it's up to them but if you are keen we will get beautiful and unusual images of the two of you... or more... see the "cigar shots" and the bride and bridesmaids jumping photo!
