Platinum Discos owner, Ashley, became a DJ back in 1976 when he was just teenager. From local dances and house parties, Ashley soon progressed into a mobile disco DJ bringing hits to hotels, parties and wedding venues in the UK and abroad.
With his wealth of experience Ashley is now an experienced and flexible DJ offering something for every crowd. With his skill at talking to the crowd, reading the mood and mixing the tracks, he really does offer everything you need to get your party going in style. Over the last 40 years Ashley has amassed a collection of millions of songs and so if you’ve got a perfect playlist in mind, he’ll be able to cater for you.
So, if a fantastic light show, quality sound and an experienced DJ sound like what you’re looking for, get in contact with Platinum Discos.
Would like to say a massive thanks for doing our wedding reception last night, you were fantastic the music you played was perfect and had the dancefloor full most of the night. The sound of the music was also great and I did not have ringing ears by the end of the night.
All my guests commented on how great you were and many said they would book you themselves.
Also like to add the lighting you used was really good and added to the ambiance of the room. Thank you for a great night!
I just wanted to drop you a quick review with a MASSIVE THANK YOU. Everything was just perfect. The floor was amazing, the LED letters amazing, you as DJ and Karaoke master amazing, the mood lighting and the Photo Booth......all just absolutely fantastic. You and Joe were both super friendly and absolutely lovely! I'm so happy I found you. Even the venue asked about you and said how great it was. The set up and amount of equipment you supplied was unreal. You worked so hard setting up, providing a great night and then packing away! If we ever hold another party in Scotland (or you are willing to travel 600+ miles to us??) then there is no one else we would ask! Can't thank you enough or recommend you enough!

I have a huge selection of music and I play requests. I have a beautiful disco which can be all black or all white.
Bookings are taken on a first come first served basis I have bookings up to 4 years in advance. I’m extremely popular and average 3-5 weddings per week!
I have been told I have the biggest music collection in the UK. So I can play almost anything from as far back as the 1920’s yo the latest chart hits. I can play and call ceilidh dances and I have a wide selection of music from other countries too! I also have classical music for during the meal and ballroom dances too!
If you have any unusual requests you can send them to me and I’ll make sure I have them.
I usually perform solo but with bigger jobs I’ll bring my roadie. Usually when I’m providing a dance floor or photo booth or a particularly big disco.
My music collection is so huge I can play anything.
I welcome playlists in advance and requests on the night.
I started to Dj back in 1976, since then I’ve done every type of party possible and I’ve also played in clubs in the UK and all around the world.
This makes me very well travelled and very flexible and adaptable!
Yes, I have the very best of everything and I carry a full backup set of equipment to every gig. Even very expensive equipment can go wrong.
I have triplicate cables, a backup laptop and an iPad and several phones plus spare lights and speakers.
It’s nice to know that if I had a technical problem that you’d probably never even notice!
Yes, I love to travel and see places I’ve never been to before. My travels have taken me all over Scotland and onto some of the islands off the west coast and I’ve recentky started doing lots of gigs throughout England too.
The price I quote always includes my travelling expenses except ferry tickets and overnight accomodation which I will research and let you know.
I only need overnight accomodation if the gig is really far away or has a very late finish.
No, as of 2019 I’ve returned to just working on my own. I do have Dj friends who would cover my gig if I was off sick though
As of 2019 it’s just me.
A typical night is around 5 to 5.5 hours.
I’m happy to play longer but this will incur an additional charge.
I do lots of all day weddings where I play your ceremony music, music during your meal and provide microphones for speeches plus the disco at night.
I like to have an hour to set up. This is usually how long it takes a hotel to do room turnaround if your meal is in the same room as your evening reception.
I like to arrive very early just to make sure I arrive in plenty of time and in case of traffic etc.
Per event for the first 5.5 hours and then hourly.
Yes, at an additional cost.
I accept cash, bank transfers and cards through PayPal.
