About Ruth Gwilliam Ceremonies

Hello, my name is Ruth and thank you for opening up my listing.  You might be wondering what a celebrant ceremony is?
If you are looking for a ceremony with a difference in a location with a difference,  then a celebrant ceremony may be the answer for you.
A celebrant wedding ceremony is something very special.  I am a qualified celebrant and write and deliver personal ceremonies exactly to your needs.  I am passionate about getting to know clients in order to prepare the ceremony of their dreams.  Each ceremony is totally unique to each couple and can take on any format you wish, whether it be formal, traditional or humourous.
Many couples experience difficulty in booking the Registrar for the legal side of their marriage. Why not carry out the legalities at a different time and then have a celebrant led ceremony which can be held simply anywhere.  The celebrant ceremony does not need to be held in a licenced venue.
I cater for various ceremonies for both heterosexual and same sex couples.
Consider a venue of your choice, maybe a family garden, woodland, boat, marquee, quite simply it's your ceremony and your choice of venue.
I always advise clients to have an informal no obligation phone chat or meeting at a time to suit you before you decide to proceed.
Ring me today on 07736 039705 for an informal,no obligation chat or email me at

Dear Ruth, Thank you! Tom and I had such a wonderful day - I enjoyed myself way more than I imagined I would or could! It all felt so relaxed, so thank you for getting the day off to the right start. So many of our friends and family commented that the ceremony was very special and personal. Exactly as we had hoped. Laura and Tom – Hilles House, Stroud, Glos 7th September 2019

From the first initial meeting to the day of our wedding we could not fault Ruth. From answering emails promptly to thinking of every little detail, you could imagine Ruth did it all. She listened to what we wanted and wrote us the most beautiful ceremony which received so many compliments. To top it off, presented us with a beautiful copy of our ceremony script. Thank you Ruth Kirsty and Josh - Over Barn Glos. September 2019

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a Celebrant ceremony form a legally binding marriage

No, a Celebrant ceremony is not a legally binding marriage. However, you can have a simple registrar ceremony beforehand or afterwards at your local Registry office.

How much are your fees for a wedding ceremony and what do they include?

Each ceremony is unique so prices vary. As a guide price, ceremonies start from £450 which includes meetings with clients, preparing and delivering the script on the day, mileage and phone calls and a souvenir copy of your ceremony. I am happy to prepare a number of drafts until you are completely satisfied with the ceremony script. Do ring me to discuss your requirements and I can give you more information..

Does the celebrant ceremony need to be carried out on the same day as the legal Registrar ceremony?

No, a celebrant ceremony can be celebrated in an unlicensed venue at a time to suit you.

Do you carry out commitment ceremonies and civil partnership ceremonies?

Yes, I do carry out the above ceremonies. Many couples who are not wishing to marry wish to have a commitment ceremony to celebrate their partnership with friends and family. These ceremonies can take a similar format to a wedding ceremony but tend to be less formal.

Do you conduct Renewal of Vow ceremonies?

Yes I love creating ceremonies for couples wishing to renew their vows. It is a beautiful way of reaffirming your love for each other. Many couples even like to say new promises/vows which I can help you with. The ceremony can be as small or as large as you want it to be. Ring me to discuss your requirements. 07736 039705

Do I have to have the legal wedding carried out by a registrar at the venue prior to a celebrant ceremony?

Not at all. You can be legally married by a registrar at your local register office before your venue wedding ceremony. This can considerably reduce your overall costs.

Do you carry out LGBT ceremonies

I definitely do. I am delighted to offer ceremonies for LGBT couples. All my couples are individuals and I love creating a truly personal ceremony which will reflect your love story and life together.

Can a ceremony be carried out in a location of our choice?

Yes, a celebrant ceremony does not need to be held in a licensed venue - choose the location of your choice, outside, in a garden, on a beach, in a woodland, on a boat.... quite simply if it is feasible, the choice is yours.
