I like the look of your menus, can we have a tasting?

Of course! We offer a tasting session for couples to try a few of their potential wedding dishes. We have a private, dedicated tasting suite where you will be able to relax and enjoy one of the more fun things couples can do on the lead up to the day. We encourage couples to make the experience as much about them as possible and it’s not that we discourage other guests joining you but sometimes too many opinions can cloud an overall decision. There is no denying that food and drinks will take up a big part of your budget so you may as well get exactly what you want!

I have vegetarian and vegan guests, what can you do for them?

No problem. We will accommodate all dietary needs and requirements so long as these are communicated to us in advance. We would suggest you choose the menu you want to have and we will come up with alternative dishes which can be substituted where necessary.

Can I offer my guests a choice of menu?

Yes, however it will make your menu that bit more expensive as it is more costly to prepare and serve. We would require a pre order of dishes and would ask that each guests has a personalised menu card reminding them of their choices, so the service is smooth and seamless on the day. This means you might have to do a bit of homework with your guests as getting people to RSVP is hard work let alone trying to get their menu choices from them!

We like the idea of a sharing style menu, what do we need to consider?

Feasting menus are a great way to enjoy delicious food informally. There are a few things to consider to make the most of this style of food service: We ask for you to order 6ft round banqueting tables which will offer the most amount of space in the middle of the table for us to serve the board, dishes and platters. Anything smaller than 6ft round and it starts to get difficult for us to serve your guests comfortably. 6ft trestle table can work for sharing menus too but again we would ask for a 6ft x 3ft table to allow for a bit more service space. As the food is going to be in the middle of the tables, you will need to consider this when planning your table decorations and/or centrepieces. We recommend either tall decorations with a small footprint on the table or smaller more delicate items that can be moved around with ease.

What do your quotations include?

We try to keep our quotations as complete and transparent as possible and when we cost up our dishes we include high quality white crockery in a range of sizes to suit your dishes along with some simple but good quality cutlery, all of which you will get to see in person when you come for a tasting. We also include the cost of a core group of service team and chefs to prepare and serve the food on the day as well as all the serving equipment required. We don’t include the cost of the hire of kitchen equipment as this will depend on where you are hosting your reception and the specifics of your menu choices, nor do we include the cost of linen as this will again depend on the dimensions and number of tables you are planning to have. We are happy to give an estimate for budgeting purposes but we will put a more accurate cost together once the details of your day are confirmed. We look after our team; a happy team translates to a happy service for you and your guests, so events more than 100 miles from our HQ we do need to build in a provision for staff welfare and travel but we try to absorb as much as possible

Who will look after us on the day?

Northern Fields will give you a dedicated operations manager who will be your point of contact for the whole day. We will do our best for you to meet them in advance of your celebrations so you can put a ‘face to the name’. Their main purpose is to make sure you and your guests are served delicious food and drinks and that you want for nothing. If you are using a wedding planner or if your venue has a dedicated event manager or co-ordinator on site, then we would always suggest arranging a call to discuss your plans for the day and so there is a smooth handover operationally on the day.

Can you provide a bar?

Absolutely and we have a full bar team who can help you with fabulous drinks throughout the day and night. Whether you want themed cocktails that remind you of your first holiday together or wines paired to complement your menu, we can help. We have card and cash facilities available should you wish us to run a pay bar, or we can work with you to arrange a pre paid/account bar for your celebrations. Depending on the nature and scale of your event, we may insist on a minimum spend and we will discuss this on an individual basis.

We want to supply our own drinks and bar, can you help us serve them?

Believe us when we say, there is quite a lot to consider when it comes to arranging your own drinks and bar! Refrigeration and all of the necessary power, ice, bar accessories such as trays, napkins, straws, bottle openers, glassware, bar staff, a physical bar unit, delivery of the drinks, chilling of the drinks, setting up the bar, washing glasses...it’s a bigger job that you might imagine! Time and again we see couples and their families running around on the days leading up to the wedding trying to work out if they have ordered enough champagne flutes or rushing out to buy lemons and limes. We really do feel we are the best people to do this for you and we have a number of contacts in the trade who can source pretty much any wine, beer or spirit you can imagine and we are happy to manage and stock whatever you would like at your event. For simplicity and ease for us both, we can either do your whole bar and drinks service for the whole day or we are happy for you to contract another supplier to do this on your behalf.

What about my photographer and band, what food should I give them?

We are more than happy to provide some simple food for any of your suppliers on the day at a special price. Some suppliers will state in their contract that they require a hot meal or snacks, some don’t mention it at all so just double check with them. All we need to know is whether they have any dietary restrictions and whether they require food at a specific time.

What venues do you operate in?

We are the sole provider of food and beverages at Tilstone House in Tarporley, Cheshire. We also provide services in Sefton Park Palm House, Camp & Furnace and Constellations in Liverpool.

Can I choose other crockery or different linen colours?

Yes of course, we totally understand how important your event looks and feels to you and we work with some great suppliers who can help you with any styling or decorations for your tables.

How much are your menus?

This is a really difficult one to answer as it very much depends on your menu choices, where you are celebrating and how you want to celebrate. Each menu we put together is unique to each event but typically we would expect to see something in the region of the following: 3-4 canapes per person from £7.00 3 course plated menu from around £40.00 per person Hot evening food and snacks from £7.50
