Zdenek and Victoria showed their appreciation for their guests’ attendance by giving them traditional Czech favours. It is custom at Czech weddings for the couple to give their guests boxes of tiny biscuits, which are all handmade. Victoria did much of her wedding planning whilst on maternity leave following the birth of the couple’s second child, and Zdenek’s mother helped her out greatly by making 700 tiny biscuits by hand, to give to the guests.
The home made biscuits were placed in ivory and blue boxes, tied with matching ribbon and a name tag bearing the guests’ names. As there were a few children at the wedding, the couple put together packs to keep them busy, including colouring books, crayons, bubbles and various other treats.
The couple also honoured a Czech traditional where they sweep up a smashed plate together twice, to symbolise working through any problems in marriage.
