John and Sian’s beautiful cake was made by a friend, and was an American style, three tiered cake. It was covered in bronze and cream hearts and topped by a vintage, art deco style cake topper, consisting of dark red and white feathers and ribbons tied into a glamorous bow.
The couple compromised by having one chocolate layer, as that’s John’s favourite, a coffee and walnut layer for Sian, and then a classic fruit cake tier to keep any traditionalists happy. The cake was served during the evening buffet, although they did send on some fruit cake to friends who couldn’t make it.
The day after the wedding the couple flew with American Airlines to New Orleans to attend the Jazz and Heritage festival, before travelling to Detroit to visit old friends of John’s. Their hectic honeymoon also involved visiting the Motown Museum, taking in a baseball game and going to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.
