Sarah and Peter chose to get married and hold their wedding reception at The George Hotel, Edinburgh. They had a humanist ceremony which allowed them to make the event more personal and uniquely special to them. A humanist ceremony meant that hey were able to choose the content and the structure of the ceremony, along with selected music and readings; they even wrote their own vows.
Sarah walked down the aisle at 2.30pm on July 8th, 2012 on the arm of her father, to the sounds of Pachelbel’s Canon. Sarah’s best friend Fiona and her brother Mark read readings and some wonderful songs were played as the register was signed including ‘Song Bird’ by Eva Cassidy and ‘Marry Me’ by Train.
The couple exchanged wedding rings that had been purchased at Ernest Jones and Gardiner Brothers in Belfast. Holding the wedding ceremony and reception at the same venue meant that Sarah and Peter’s 70 wedding guests didn’t need to travel anywhere after the ceremony, but the newlyweds got to experience some of the most beautiful parts of Edinburgh with their photographer as their guests enjoyed Champagne.
