Martin and Rebecca viewed a range of wedding venues when it came to choosing theirs, from a four star hotel to a village hall, but decided on River Tees Watersports Centre as Rebecca loved the idea of a blank canvas she could decorate completely. The décor was turquoise, inspired by the waterside location, and they included lots of personal touches, including a welcome drink cocktail named after the couple.
Rebecca made signs for the back of their chairs saying ‘I’m his Mrs’ and ‘I’m her Mr’, and punched hearts from Forget-me-Nots seed paper, before wrapping them in lace fabric as favours.
Guests enjoyed a BBQ wedding breakfast, which was served on the balcony and included Northumbrian steak, lamb koftas and chicken kebabs. Rebecca’s father gave a funny speech and the bride also gave one, beginning with: “everyone knows how hard it can be to keep me quiet and today is no exception!”.
