The wedding started off with welcome drinks for the guests on an outcrop overlooking the beach at the Belle Mare Plage Hotel. As the storm came in, people gathered under the shelter of the open sided restaurant. The guests formed a semi circle around Rebecca and Andrew as they chatted, laughed and said their vows, with a lot of kissing in between!
They signed the register, with another several kisses, and then the registrar asked the couple to tell each other how they felt about one another. It was a very moving moment and both Andrew and Rebecca shed tears of emotion. The registrar reminded the newlywed couple that in Mauritian law you can only marry for love and be loved in return and that they must always share a home and all of their possessions. It was perfect.
