The first thing Nicola ever said to Andy was “Will you pass me those trainers?” as they both worked in a local sport shop whilst studying.
Luckily the conversation between the two developed beyond that, and the couple spent the next 11 years together.
Andy decided to pop the question whilst on holiday in Fuerteventura, a place that is special to both of them. They headed to the beach late at night, and Andy wrote ‘Will you marry me?’ in the sand.
Nicola’s first response was ‘Are you drunk?’ and ‘Did you ask my dad?’ before she said yes! Andy presented her with a temporary ring, knowing that Nicola would prefer to pick her own engagement ring.
After 15 months together the bride and groom married in front of 65 guests at Samlesbury Hall, before honeymooning in New York and Mexico.
