Marie made her own wedding cake, after attending a night class in order to learn how to do it. She made a white iced fruit cake, which she then topped with two dummy layers. The cake was decorated with lace trimmings and lavender faux flowers. The savvy bride had sponges from Marks and Spencer’s in the kitchen to serve to guests with the evening buffet.
Four days after their beautiful and budget-friendly wedding, Barrie and Marie headed to Nice and then Corsica for a romantic honeymoon that combined the sightseeing of a city break with the relaxation of a beach holiday.
It was a well earned break for a couple that enjoyed every minute of their DIY wedding planning, and they advise other couples to ‘be creative, as the guests will love it!’.
