Maria and Matthias became husband and wife in a traditional wedding ceremony at Southwark Cathedral. Southwark Cathedral was Maria’s parish church when she first moved to London so it was the natural choice for their wedding.
As Matthias is German they wanted to include his heritage in the wedding ceremony. One of the wedding readings was in German and for the music they mostly picked German composers. When Maria heard the choir sing for the first time at the ceremony she welled up – it was so emotional seeing all their hard work come together!
The bride walked down the aisle with her proud father to Charpentier’s ‘Te Deum’. Maria and Matthias exchanged wedding rings which had been custom made at a boutique back in San Francisco. After their wedding ceremony the newlyweds and their guests travelled 38 miles to the glamorous reception venue – Danesfield House in Buckinghamshire.
