Lucy and Alan met on dating website Plenty of Fish. They didn’t have the smoothest of starts, but eventually found their way and married in an elegant wedding with some quirky twists at Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club.
Lucy and Alan’s Elegant Wedding
After meeting online on Plenty of Fish, Lucy and Alan were together for around four months before Alan decided it wasn’t what he wanted at the time. The couple parted ways but months later ended up getting back together.
They reunited in the June, were living together by the November and less than a year later they’d bought their first home. Alan completely surprised Lucy by proposing the next month, when they’d been together for just under two years in total.
They were in scruffy clothes, cleaning their new house from top to bottom and Alan had suggested going for dinner that night. Lucy didn’t really want to but Alan was insistent – he knew it’d be a dinner to remember. He then dropped to one knee whilst Lucy was looking up the bus times and presented her with a ring he’d designed himself.
Her first response was to ask ‘Are you serious?’ Alan replied with, ‘Considering I’m down on one knee with a ring, I’d say so.’ Lucy burst into tears and said yes, before phoning her mum. Alan had got Lucy’s mum’s permission to propose, so she was in on the surprise too. Lucy couldn’t believe he’d planned a proposal and hidden a ring and a champagne bottle all whilst they were moving house!
