After meeting in Ibiza the couple discovered that although Matthew was originally from Northern Ireland and Kerry was from Kent, they actually only lived 20 minutes apart!

They started dating after returning home and got engaged on Christmas day 2010 after nine years and three children together! After all the presents had been opened, Matthew pulled a ring out from his pocket and asked Kerry to marry him, in front of their three children, Maddison, Koda and Cayden.

The pair decided they would get married abroad as they had family in Northern Ireland and England so going abroad would make it fair – everyone would have to travel the same distance! They were engaged for five years as this allowed them to save up and have the wedding of their dreams with no expenses spared.

The Benjamin Roberts Wedding Dress

Kerry’s wedding dress was amazing. She didn’t feel like a typical bride – she wasn’t all that fussed about choosing her dress so she took two friends with her and let them pick out gowns for her to try on.

Her friends picked out the 2392 by Benjamin Roberts, and when Kerry tried it on they both started crying, as did the shop assistant at Naomi’s in Ballynahinch. Kerry would recommend the shop to anyone – Angela who worked there was amazing and made her feel really special.

The dress was an ivory fishtail gown with lots of pearl and lace detailing with detachable capped sleeves and a removable belt. As soon as Kerry saw herself in the dress she felt like a bride, and the lightweight lace of the gown made it perfect for a destination wedding.

Kerry’s Wedding Hair and Beauty Regime

As the couple were getting married abroad, the wedding hair and makeup was organised by the company Matthew and Kerry hired to help them plan their wedding.

A professional at the hotel they were staying at came to makeover Kerry. She had a natural makeup look, nothing to heavy so it would stay immaculate in the heat.

Normally Kerry would wear her naturally curly hair down around her face. She originally thought she’d want her hair like this on her big day as she wears her hair up for work, however her dress was so pretty she didn’t want to distract from it at all so she arranged to have her hair styled in an elegant up do.

Kerry paired her Benjamin Roberts wedding dress with a bracelet from her mother-in-law and her nan’s earrings. Her nan’s earrings were one of the most important things she wore on the day as her nan couldn’t travel to the wedding so she was able to have something of hers with her on the day of the wedding.

The bride had a bouquet of calla lilies, decorated with diamantes and tied together with an ivory ribbon. There were two adult bridesmaids who wore pink strapless dresses from ASOS, and four little bridesmaids in ivory dresses. The older bridesmaids carried bouquets of white lilies whilst the younger ones had coral bouquets.

Matthew and his groomsmen looked smart on the wedding day, although they opted for suits without jackets as at 28 degrees, it was far too hot!

The groom wore grey trousers and a grey waistcoat with a white shirt and pink tie, and his two groomsmen wore the exact same.

Kerry and Matthew shopped together for the groomswear, which they chose to buy rather than hire, but Kerry was happy to let Matthew make the final decision as he would be the one wearing it.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony

Matthew and Kerry became husband and wife in an outdoor wedding ceremony which took place in the grounds of their hotel, by the beach.

Kerry was walked down the aisle by both her mum and dad as ‘Kissing You’ by Des’ree played. Matthew and Kerry wrote their own vows to add a personalised twist to the service.

After the wedding ceremony the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed a meal overlooking the beach. They had a divine five course meal, with chicken as the main course.

They didn’t decide on a theme as such for their day, but they used lots of pink where they could and had flowers and candles on the tables. Each guest received a wedding favour that resembled the couple; Kerry is a dental nurse and Matthew works in security so everyone got a miniature toothpaste and mouthwash, and a key ring in the shape of a gun with some love heart sweets.

Pink and White Wedding Cake

Kerry and Matthew cut into a two tiered wedding cake which was covered in pink and white icing. The cake had a vanilla tier and a chocolate tier. The newlyweds were so engrossed in their celebrations they actually forgot about the cake after it had been cut, so no one got to try it!

In the evening the couple and their guests partied at one of the bars at the hotel, where a DJ played music to make sure everyone was dancing. Kerry and Matthew shared their first dance to ‘You and I’ by One Direction as it perfectly summed up how they felt about each other.

Kerry also had a father – daughter dance and a mother – daughter dance to include both her parents in the wedding celebration.

Happily Ever After

There’s nothing Kerry and Matthew would change about their wedding – the location was amazing, the sun was shining and after the party the night ended with everyone headed to a karaoke bar in their wedding finery and singing their hearts out!

Walking back to the hotel with a chip shop take away in the early hours summed up Matthew and Kerry perfectly – chilled out and still just as madly in love with each other 14 years later.

After their perfect wedding Kerry and Matthew headed to Venice for a romantic honeymoon, something they could enjoy as just the two of them. It was made even more special by the discovery when they returned home that they’re expecting their fourth baby!
