Kerry and David met on a night out in Middlesbrough in 2005. They were together for eight years and had a daughter together before getting engaged in the Lake District just before Christmas. Their wedding took place at the Swan Hotel in Windermere and included an hour sailing around the lake with all their guests!
Kerry and David’s Beautiful Lake District Wedding
It was the 22nd December 2013 and David gave Kerry a card which read ‘a night away’. She asked when and he told her it would be the next day.
She started to panic as it was the day before Christmas Eve and they had their young daughter to think about – but David had taken care of it all. His mum took care of their little girl and off they went – and Kerry finally started to relax and enjoy the spontaneous surprise!
They headed to the Lake District and it started to rain, so David stopped to buy an umbrella. Kerry thought this was odd but didn’t question it. David’s original plan was to propose on the jetty in Bowness, but in the end it rained so much he couldn’t.
He was secretly stressing out about his plan going wrong, but Kerry had no idea. They drove to the hotel he’d booked and he left Kerry in the bar with a drink whilst he went to ‘take their things to the room’. He was gone for a while and when he came back he gave Kerry his phone. On the screen was a picture of children’s fridge magnets, arranged to spell out ‘will you marry me?’
Kerry started to cry and so did David! They headed up to the room, which David had decorated with rose petals and flowers and champagne. He gave her a beautiful ring, one she’d admired a long time ago – she couldn’t believe he’d remembered. It was the perfect way to see in Christmas!
