Kathryn & Karl’s Real Wedding

Kathryn and Karl met and got together whilst working at the same bar back in 2003. Kathryn had been saving up to go travelling and only realised that their relationship was serious when it was time for her to leave the UK.  Karl went and met Kathryn in New Zealand 6 months later and they spent the next 4 months travelling around in a campervan.  It was then that they knew their relationship was special. Kathryn and Karl had simply the best wedding day ever.

The Wedding Venue

Kathryn and Karl spent hours on end looking at what seemed like a million wedding venues online, and visited 5 actual wedding venues in person. They found an amazing wedding venue that they thought was absolutely perfect. They put a deposit down, however due to a sudden strain on their finances, they had to put all plans on hold and weren’t sure when they’d be able to afford to get married.

One day in November 2009 they decided to go for a walk in the countryside in Warwickshire, looked up some villages on Google Maps and came across Ettington Park. Kathryn had seen the venue when they first got engaged and was really keen because you could get married in the library, which was perfect because of Kathryn’s English lit degree, job in publishing, and both Kathryn and Karl are both book worms.  Due to a last-minute Winter deal Kathryn and Karl were able to secure Ettington Park which is a neo-Gothic mansion packed with period features.  It was mainly built in the 19th century but some parts date back to the 1600s.  The site is even mentioned in the Domesday book.
