Gareth and Kate’s wedding celebrations took place at Upper House, a former hunting lodge which dates back to the 14th century. The venue, which is situated in the Peak District, has nine bedrooms which meant the couple were able to invite their friends and family to spend the bank holiday weekend there with them, living like lords and ladies of the manor!
The venue also features Agatha Christie’s study, with gorgeous views across the Kinder Reservoir, and there is a medieval bar to relax in.
They chose to decorate their wedding venue with a vibrant Manx tartan theme, with peacock feather inspired colours. As Kate’s from the Isle of Man, it was a way to include her heritage. Manx tartan is made up from the colours common to the Isle of Man; blue of the sea, green of the hills, gold of the gorse, purple of the heather and white of the cottages. This colour scheme worked well with the peacock feathers they also included.
