Justine and Kire became husband and wife at 1pm in a civil ceremony at Stoodleigh Court in Devon. The bride was walked down the aisle by her son, to ‘All I Ask of You’ from Phantom of the Opera. They chose this emotive song as it was from the first West End show they went to see together.
A friend of the couple’s also performed a reading of ‘September 8’ by Pablo Neruda, a poet who spent a long time away from his home country, much like Kire. It was made more personal when the reader reflected it could have easily been called ‘November 10’, Kire and Justin’s wedding date.
Instead of presenting each other with new rings, the couple decided to incorporate the promise rings they bought not long after they met into the ceremony, and the registrar adapted the vows to reflect that.
