Hilary & Alex’s Real Wedding

Hilary and Alex met through a mutual friend when Hilary moved to London. The couple started out as just friends, but a few dates soon led to love. Alex popped the question after a friend’s wedding in the Cotswolds, and they began planning their special day.

The Ceremony

Hilary arrived at the incredible wedding venue with her father in a Mercedes, hired from Sapphire Cars. The wedding took place on board the SS Great Britain, Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s great ship, which is now docked at Bristol.

Alex and Hilary said their vows at 4.30pm on the Promenade Deck, which was filled with natural light. A waxwork of Brunel sat amongst the guests, which caused Hilary to giggle. Her father walked her down the aisle to ‘Nella Fantasia’, sang by Katherine Jenkins. Alex’s sister read ‘The Relationship Promise’ by Luke Wright, and Hilary’s sister read ‘Blessing of the Hands’ during the service. The couple exchanged rings bought from Hatton Garden, from the same place where they’d picked out Hilary’s engagement ring just under a year before.

The ship closed to the public at 5pm, so they had exclusive use of it for the reception after their romantic and unique wedding ceremony.
