A traditional hotel wedding reception was never going to be the right fit for Helen and Rob. They chose the Emperor pub as it was near to their home, had a lovely garden and it already had bunting up over the bar. Helen knew their wedding would feature lots of bunting so it kind of sealed the deal!
They loved the relaxed friendly feel, and got on so well with the landlady, who helped to make their day run smoothly. The catering was kept casual – there was a hog roast and two cheese and pineapple hedgehogs (as Helen points out, how would you know it was a party without them?!) and dessert came in the form of the cake table.
All the guests received lots of homemade favours, inspired by what you’d take home from a village fete. There were also fete style games, including guess the name of the teddy, guess the weight of the cake and a coconut shy, amongst other things!
