After the bridal party had been pampered at Down Hall, the day’s celebration started with a church wedding at St. Andrews in Sandon, just outside of Chelmsford. The ceremony was beautiful and was perfectly conducted by Reverend Poulard.
After exchanging rings shortly after 2pm, the bride and groom were transported through the Essex countryside in a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud. They held their champagne reception for their one hundred and forty-two day guests at Down Hall, chosen out of more than ten venues because of its grandeur and room for guests to stay the night if they wished.
Games were laid out in the gardens for the many children present to play with in the (almost) perfect weather. As well as providing games, Heather and Dan gave each child guest a present of colouring pencils and a colouring book with which to entertain themselves throughout the reception.
