Matthew and Emma’s wedding cake consisted of three separate heart shaped tiers decorated with a pretty swirling pattern and butterflies made from icing. Red ribbon added a splash of colour to the ivory iced cake, and a heart themed cake topper helped to draw the eye to it.
The cake was made by a friend of the family and was served on the night alongside the buffet. The top tier was traditional fruit cake, the middle was carrot cake and the bottom tier was simple sponge.
Emma and Matthew originally planned to honeymoon in Italy but unfortunately Matthew was too ill to travel. Sadly the groom passed away just four days after the wedding.
Emma suggests that other couples should make sure they take in every moment – the day goes so fast so you want to make the most of every second.
