Elaine and Stephen met at a mutual friend’s birthday party, and hit it off. A Christmas Eve proposal led to a 16 year engagement, before Elaine’s grandmother’s ill health spurred them on to planning a wedding in just two weeks so she could share their special day.
The Bride and Groom
When Elaine and Stephen first met, she was actually going out with a friend of his! They broke up and Elaine asked Stephen out. Five years went by and it was Stephen’s turn to ask Elaine a big question; on Christmas Eve he got down on one knee and asked ‘Will you marry me?’. The ring was a custom made solitaire, perfect for Elaine, who’d always wanted a solitaire.
The couple were engaged for an incredible 16 years, and felt they were each other’s soul mate and best friend. When they discovered Elaine’s grandmother was suffering from ill health, they decided to get married as soon as possible so she could share in their day. On the 12th July they began planning their wedding to take place on the 27th, and invited 55 day guests, with a further 16 joining them in the evening.
