Shane and Dawn had a traditional three tiered wedding cake, covered in purple icing and white stars. The cake was made by the bride’s super creative mum! Two tiers were a rich fruit cake which had been soaked in rum, whilst one tier was a classic sponge with delicious damson jam filling.
The cake was cut up and served to guests with coffee, following the three course meal. It was also presented on trays for guest to take home with them the following day.
After their wedding weekend, the couple went on a mini-moon to the five star Celtic Manor Resort in Newport – a surprise wedding gift from Dawn’s parents. As Shane is a teacher, they plan to honeymoon later on, spending 15 nights in Australia, staying in a variety of locations!
After having a unique wedding which suited the two of them perfectly, Dawn advises other brides-to-be to remember: “You only do this once, so make it your own”!
