Carla and Joe had a gorgeous destination wedding on the island of Malta. Unfortunately the wedding took place during the fourth worst weather conditions on record for the island. Thunderstorms and flash floods couldn’t stop this couple from tying the knot though, after a four year relationship and an 18 month engagement!
The Happy Couple
Carla and Joe met at their work Christmas party in 2005. That night, Joe met Carla’s mum as she came to pick her up, and he told her he planned to marry her daughter. Both Carla and her mum laughed this off, but after being pursued through email for a while, Carla finally relented and went on a date with Joe.
Once she got over her shyness about dating a co-worker, the couple fell head over heels in love. Joe took a day off work to pick a diamond ring, then visited Carla’s father to ask permission for her hand in marriage. He then presented Carla with the ring during a romantic holiday in Jamaica. The proposal didn’t go quite to plan as it rained throughout the holiday, which meant Carla was reluctant to visit the beach. The rainy proposal proved to be a sign for the wedding to come!
