After an 8 year engagement Alison and Lee finally celebrated their marriage surrounded by 230 of their closest friends and family. The couple looked at just one wedding venue and involved all 7 of their children in their wedding plans as much as they could. The wedding day itself flew by, but all of the planning – and the 8 year wait – was totally worth it!
Love Across the Miles
Alison and Lee met via a social networking site called Face Party and chatted online for about nine months before they were actually able to meet!
Lee was working over in Iraq at the time and it was only when he came back to the UK on leave that the couple could arrange a first date! This was back at the end of August in 2006 and the couple met at Manchester airport!
Just under four months later, around Christmas time, Lee told Alison to go Christmas shopping with his mother – as a ploy to get her out of the house! Whilst Alison was out spending, Lee had a florist come to decorate the whole house and bedroom with thousands of flowers. Tea lights illuminated the stair case and on the bed was a furry write rug and a box. Alison opened the box and a balloon rose to the ceiling with ‘Will You Marry Me’ written down the ribbon. At the end was an engagement ring and Lee had secretly recorded the whole thing on camera! It was a true fairytale proposal!
