Mick and Ali became husband and wife in an intimate wedding ceremony at the Cumberland Hotel.
The registrar, Rosemary, was absolutely wonderful. Ali and Mick felt as though they’d known her for years. Ali asked her brother, Paul, to read out a poem – he chose ‘He Never Leaves the Seat Up’ which was the perfect choice for the occasion.
The couple wrote their own promises to each other, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house as they read them out. They’d once fallen out over Ali putting cocktail sausages in Mick’s lunchbox – she was sure to promise to never do that again. Mick promised Ali he would always remove spiders from the house for her.
Ali recorded her own walk-down-the-aisle song. She walked down the aisle with her dad to her own version of ‘Save the Best ‘til Last’.
