The tables at the reception were all named after points from the New York marathon where Matthew proposed – with the head table being named “26.2 Miles – The Finishing Line, Central Park” – the very point that the happy couple got engaged. Each table had its own floral centre piece, supplied by Aqua. The arrangements were in tall martini glasses and then the top table had a long low arrangement, fairy lights all around the room gave some extra touches of elegance.
On arrival to the reception, each guest received a lottery ticket for that night’s draw. Additionally the couple made a donation to Cancer Research on behalf of each guest and gave them a pink ribbon pin as a memento with a card noting that the donation was in celebration of the day as well as the life of Alexandra’s mother Caroline Hills who died of cancer in 2001.
Alexandra and Matthew had no extra guests to their evening party as they wanted all their guests to be able to enjoy the whole day. A disco put on by Bonehead Productions got people dancing and the drink was flowing from the open bar all night long.
