Getting Married in South Africa
The beautiful country of South Africa makes a fantastic destination for your wedding abroad. From the stunning coastal views to the once in a life time safari experiences that you can enjoy during your time in South Africa, this country makes a great location for a destination wedding. The South African community are friendly and welcoming and will make sure that your wedding day, whether on a beach or in a game reserve resort runs smoothly. With direct flights going to both Johannesburg and Cape Town daily from the UK your wedding guests can make a weekend or a week’s break whilst witnessing your very special wedding abroad.
You will need to provide
Copies of passports
Copies of Divorce Decrees (if applicable)
Copies of Death Certificates (if applicable)
Each party will need to complete a "Declaration for the Purpose of Marriage" (form B131) which will need to be completed in the presence of the marriage officer when they arrive in the country
An Abridged Marriage Certificate will be issued to you immediately after the ceremony has taken place. The Marriage Officer will register your marriage with the Department of Home Affairs and apply for your Unabridged Marriage Certificate which you can use to register your marriage back here in the UK. The Unabridged certificate will be stamped "Apostille" by the High Court in Cape Town. It will take approximately 3 working days to issue this certificate.
