How to ask guests not to share photos on social media (secret covid wedding)

Sarah, 16 of September of 2020 at 18:08 Posted on Planning 0

Got engaged and knocked up in April, but have decided to take advantage of the covid situation by planning a shotgun wedding in October.

We're only allowed 30 people, which works as we both have large families and there's family drama we'd rather avoid, so covid is a really great excuse to not invite people. We are planning to have a part 2 at some point in the future when things start to return to normal, but are keeping part 1 secret until after the fact so as to avoid hurting peoples feelings (easier to ask forgiveness than permission).

We're planning to do a social media post the day after the wedding to let everyone else know, but how can we ask guests nicely to not share on their own social media beforehand? We're not having a photographer so want our guests to take photos and share in a private google photos album, but this feels hypocritcal, asking them to take photos, but then not share them.

Any help would be much appreciated!
