booking a wedding abroad?

LadyKherts, 28 of February of 2015 at 08:32 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 11

Hi All, we are in very early stages of planning our wedding, we are looking at several options, abroad being one of them, I've had a look online and everyone wants me to call for quotes etc, how do I go about getting costs without being hassled by agents? How did you find your packages?

Thanks Smiley smile

Hello, I just emailed a few companies. I also found a recommended wedding planner who sent me her packages. The thing you need to think about is flight costs and accommodation. The packages I got sent are all reasonable and with less guests you spend less feeding everyone but if your decision is based in cost than abroad weddings can cost as much as here. We chose abroad as our families are very big and I don't want to offend anyone but also don't want to invite people that deep down I don't want there. we could have done it much much cheaper than we have but hitched has also proved you can do it in the uk for much cheaper too. Where are you thinking of abroad?

    Hi,

If you want to have a wedding abroad the best thing to do is to email one or two reputable wedding planners and get the offers. Ask few questions or ask them to give you offers for one or two locations . Do not be afraid to say the desired budget as they know in some cases areas that they are not published in web sites and they are unique or less touristic and may be you could do a wedding according to your needs.

After you decide with your fiance then probably you can set a skype appoitment and discuss in depth your wedding. That is what we did. We had our wedding in Greece. I you are interested in Greece you can contact Marryme in Greece. the site is http://www.marryme.com.gr It is very reliable company and trustworthy. If you need more information do not hesitate to contact me via email

We are getting married in Vegas and then off to Orlando for our honeymoon. we got quotes from a few travel agents for the flights / accommodation and then looked in to booking the wedding part by ourselves to cut out any wedding planner. we ended up booking with virgin and they do have wedding packages as well, including the chapel we ended up choosing, but I felt it was easier booking the wedding separate.

Hey i got married in Jamaica. A lot of the travel agents will have a wedding brochure so you are best to pop into your local one and grab one or 2. In there it will have the details of the hotel and how much the package is...sometimes its free. You can then check the normal price of the holiday online and add the wedding package price onto that. Once we had booked our wedding i contacted the hotel and spoke to their wedding planner where we could book extra bits. We paid the extras when we got there. We had 14 people come out with us and hired a steel drum band for the ceremony and chose our flowers/photographer and videographer. We also had an evening ceremony in a private part by the pool with a bbq buffet. They also arranged for us to have a pre wedding meal the night before at the beach restaurant to get everyone together and that was free because it was all inclusive. The hotel should have a list of everything they offer with prices including hair and make up. We got married at the Hilton Rose Hall in Montego Bay Jamaica and it was perfect for us as we wanted to do it aborad but wanted to add our own details to it rather than just the standard package.

We are also looking to get married abroad in 2016, in fact we have set our hearts on France. We thought we had chosen one venue that came up on the first page of google but the venue is nothing like the pictures, in fact didn't come close. We really did our research and it wasn't until we contacted a few people on their trip advisor comments that we realised the good comments were mostly made up and the false ones were completely accurate.

I am saying this as you really do need to do your homework and be careful.

We are now back to square one and looking for the 'right' venue. If it means we don't get our date in 2016 we will wait till 2017 but won't take second best. As they say if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Any recommendations for a venue in France, pref an hour 30 from Bordeaux then please let me know.

Thanks so much and really looking forward to getting the ball rolling.

    Sazza -x-

    Hi

Virginholidays have a downloadable PDF on their website, there is also thomson.co.uk/holidays/weddings (I have been told by numerous people Thomson are very good at dealing with abroad weddings) and perfectabroadweddings.co.uk

We initially contacted Dana Villas in Greece as we knew we wanted our wedding ceremony to be held there. They then gave us a list of wedding planners with whom they had previously worked with and with whom were reputable (which was great as it gave us a starting point). Then we sent everyone the same standard email with all of our questions (which was quite a few) and then reviewed each one upon their return.
We were lucky as everyone responded to our email and no one tried to hassle us in the following days and weeks. I am sure I would have the list provided to us on our emails, if you decide on getting married in Greece and if this list would be of any use to you.

    Hi,

We had destination wedding so it's much more easy to hire some planner. But anyway it was cheaper than wedding in UK for example. We hired Naan events and got a perfect coordinator who provided many suggestions and recommendation accordingly to our requirements. The girl Nataly took care of my every need from the very beginning. She carefully planned all the ceremony, helped to make decizions of cake or flowers designs etc.. She was next to me all the wedding day long so I didn't have to do a thing but took pleasure in it. I highly recommend Naan events! I think the costs of about 3 or 4 thousands are acceptable for the trip and the weddind and maybe the honeymoon.

    Hi,

we are getting married in Malta end of August 2016. we have chosen to go with Thomson. we looked at a few different websites and got several brochures. try going to big travels agents and small ones. perfect weddings abroad is a good website to try. we are currently waiting for confirmation of our exact wedding date. (been waiting 5 weeks so far can take up to 8) good to try and get booked as early as possible.

    good luck with your planning!!

    xx

I have booked Levi ice gallery for Jan 2016. I couldn't book the holiday and wedding in one as we had booked the holiday before deciding to marry there. I looked at wedding planners then emailed the local tourist board to ask who took bookings direct. My first choice of venue did and they sorted me a date, sent me the paperwork and instructions to comets it, booked me the magistrate and a photographer etc all for half the price of that same package by the planner.
