Need cheap wedding stationary

JadeMayWedding2019, 14 of June of 2018 at 22:20 Posted on Planning 0 21

Hello!

I personally do not want to spend too much money on “any” of the wedding stationary as I see it as somthing that people will look at once and potentially throw away.

Does anyone have any suggestions on who or where will do nice simple designs for not too much ?

Any suggestions are are very welcome at this point Smiley smile

I think we’re planning to use vistaprint. They have a large selection of nice designs and often have coupon codes.

We're skipping save the dates, and just telling people.

I'm making the invites - bought all the stuff - blank cards with envelopes, contrast coloured card, decorative bits plus a glue gun on Amazon for under £60. Should be enough to make 100 invites.

I've also heard good things about vistaprint.

We were also trying to save as much money as possible.

    What we did was:

    - Skip save the dates, just text/email/tell people.

    - For certain people, in particularly younger friends who weren't too bothered about all the formal stuff, and people living abroad, we just designed our own little invitation in Microsoft Word and sent it by email.

    - For people who definitely required written invites, (I also thought no one would look at them but I've since been told a lot of people like something pretty to stick them on their fridge as a reminder!) I went to the local craft shop in town and bought loads of ivory coloured blank cards and envelopes (they had a lovely selection of all different cuts and patterns), bought some lovely stamps and ink and ribbon, and made my own invites - then did the insert with all the info on the computer, printed it off and glued it inside.

    - We handed out as many in person as possible (including passing my nan a huge pile to hand out to family) to save on stamps.

    - In total we spent £45, although £15 of that was on stamps and that was for nearly 100 invitations. (So 30p per invite no including stamps. You won't get that at vista print, even though their stuff is lovely!)

Some things I would say are:my local craftshop worked out cheaper than Hobbycraft, so if you've got one try there first. WH Smith and Hobbycraft also do ready-made wedding invites where you just fill in the names yourself, which are also pretty cheap, nice and hassle free. Having seen some other DIY invites since, I've realised I gave myself more work than I needed to, eg. there was no real need for the stamps and ribbons, I just got a bit carried away ? I've seen some that are perfectly nice on just one piece of coloured card, with a pretty print-out glued to it.

    Thank you for the replies!

I was looking through vista print and priced up how much all the stationary would be and it’s come to £160!! Not including the table plan thing because I don’t think they do them and I would prefer it if everything matched.

I did consider making my own as I love crafty things , I’m just not neat and I don’t know if I would have the time... if my wedding is in May when should I sent the invites out?

As a few of you mentioned I could just tell everyone rather than do save the dates.

I spoke to my OH tonight briefly as we were both at work about what he thinks about the pricing of all the stuff, like I said £200!!!

He said he doesn’t mind paying that much as it would be less messing about than making our own.

if were only having 40/50 people attend our wedding would it really be that hard to make the stuff?

I don’t know what to do.

making your own is time consuimg and faffing about when we both already work full time , then you’ve got the more expensive option which is less faffing about?!?!

I know Instantprint do 100 flyers for £16, so maybe you could find a way to use that? www.greetingcarduniverse.com are the people we used for our vow renewal invites. I made a mistake, and they re-did them all at no extra cost, so I do recommend them. They usually have discount codes. Maybe if you called them, they would give you a reduction for ordering a lot? Otherwise Ace Gifts and Cards do cheap personalised invites. Or eBay, Card Factory, Clintons or Cards Galore?

When we originally got married, we just bought invites from a stationary shop, printed the wording on a printer, and glued the printed insert into the inside of the card.

We also bought this personalised stamp - we're going to use it on the invites, envelopes, place names, thank you cards... thought it was a really nice touch! It arrived really quickly too!

If your wedding is in May, I would maybe send out invites around December for day invites, and Feb for evening. That way if people can't make it, it gives you chance to bump evening guests up to full day!

Hi. With vista print you can also upload your own photograph or one you have chosen, so your invites and stationary are unique.

Maybe have a look at Not On The High Street.com too. They have a few and prices vary,

If you're not afraid of a bit of DIY I highly recommend a program called Canva! It's a free design program where you can put various bits together and design your own things. I used it to design all of our stationery - save the dates, invites, signs etc. All it's cost me was the specialist paper I bought for ~£6. Obviously it helps if your work are happy for you to use their printer, or you can be sneaky about it!

I also bought 200 envelopes off eBay for cheap. Like you said, most of it will go in the bin so why have the expense?

Got mine from card factory...got day and evening invites plus place names all for around £25 did not want to spend £200 plus on things that get looked at once and put in a drawer. I would suggest you buy more than you need in case they change designs.

    Hi,

We got three different sets of invites as we couldn't choose which ones we liked, but we bought ours from Zazzle which is based in America but they only took a few days to arrive to us in the UK, but they were such good quality and far cheaper than buying them in England. We had personalised printed ones made and they cost about £40 in total for 100 invites :-)

Zazzle.com are offering 50% off invites atm using code ZLETSSAVEBIG

Had an email from them about it, quite a saving for your stationary orders!

WE bought ours in Aldi of all places! 50 invites with save the dates and RSVP cards for £25.

for the evening invites i've bought a similar coloured card and am making my own on the laptop, printing them at work to save on ink costs and potentially helping myself to the franking machine to send them all out!!

oh i also saw some invites in pound land the other day and actually they were really nice. simple but quite elegant and if don't tell anybody, they don't know! A part of me was a bit gutted we'd already bought ours.

i got our place cards in pound land too, but i might just use the card i've bought for the evening invites as i've just discovered the place cards are hard to write on!

We made our own save the dates on a PC and printed them ourselves. Added some glitter glue. Barely cost us anything.

For the invitations, we got some blank cards from The Works (50 for £5 or something like that) and then stuck confetti to them. Simple and cheap. It took quite a while actually making the cards, but stick a good film on and pour a glass of wine!

I am making my own, using pressed Busy Lizzies from the garden, and a pack of ivory 5x5" cards I bought from Amazon for less then £6 (when I bought them) for 50 of them: (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00681L1VW/ref=pe_3187911_185740111_TE_item)

I'm just going to decorate the front of the cards with the pressed flowers (currently pressing in a large book under a stack of other books on my bookshelf) and some ribbon, and maybe use a fountain pen to write a short message on the front. Then on the inside, I'll glue in some inserts after printing them off.

I'll need to make about 35 invites so it won't be too arduous, and after buying the ribbon, will have cost about £7.50 in total!
