Hey Green Hotel Administration

miniraes, 4 of December of 2012 at 14:31 Posted on Planning 0 29

Hi

Has this happened to anyone else's venue? Did you get your money back? Did you continue with wedding at venue with new owners? SO many questions! This is so unfair.

It doesn't say anything on their website. What have they told you? Has it gone into administration or has it just been sold to new owners?

I don't think it's something they want to broadcast?!

All weddings will be honoured apparently and administrators will be in touch this week. I have lost trust as they have just rebranded the hotel and pub and changed head office address.

I don't want this happening again once I've handed over the balance. Wedding is next summer.

Do you have insurance? What does your contract say? It may be that, because they are honouring weddings, you won't be able to cancel without losing your deposit. It depends on your contract. If you are really worried would it be worth losing your deposit and booking elsewhere?

I am getting married at the Hey Green too. They have been calling me and my fiancé asking us to sign terms and conditions. I'm a bit nervous that they are not going to be there for the wedding and about paying in full two weeks before the wedding.

    Hello folks,

We received an email last night and this is the first thing we have heard about the situation. Can I please ask how did you guys hear about all this? We are all booked in for next year and have lost confidence now. It will be an interesting meeting on Sunday when they have one of their wedding fairs.

    What are your guys thoughts?

    HI Andy

We heard via email yesterday. I started the thread as I immediately knew there would be more of us. I'm not a happy bunny and I've received now email back from them yet after I responded. I am not happy to discuss this unless in writing.

Not sure what to do now ?????

    Email is as follows....

    Hi Everyone,

You may have heard all sorts of rumours regarding Hey Green and New Inn over
the past week. In actual fact Hey Green Ltd. has been forced into
administration by HMRC. There is an outstanding debt to them from 2009,
which HMRC had agreed could be paid at an agreed point in the future.
However at the end of September they reneged on this arrangement and
demanded payment of the total sum within seven days. Obviously this wasn't
possible in such a short time scale, and hence we had to put the company
    into administration.

We have set up a new company which is now running the business, and we are
in the process of getting everything back administratively to the way it was
before. This may take a few months, but it's very much "business as usual"
in the meantime. So please rest assured that none of this will affect your
special day, or the lead up to it. If you would like to speak to Mark or
myself please feel free to pick up the phone, or pop in and see us.

You will receive a letter from BDO, the administrators of the old company
within the next couple of days outlining the position.

On another note - we still haven't heard from quite a few of you whether you
are coming to the wedding club meeting on Sunday. Please let us know if you
are coming or not as it affects how many we need to cater for. We look
forward to seeing as many of you as possible then.

Has anyone replied to them? Have you got a response? Are you attending on Sunday? Funny how short notice was given.

We will be attending on sunday.

we havnt replied and are instead hopig to have a chat on sunday. I would like to see what their body language is. the main reason we went with them is we felt confident they would look after us. We now feel dishartened to say the least. Something along the lines of devistated would be more accurate.

They were supposed to have had a wedding fair in september (or at least we were told thats when it would be around) that never happened. The first one half the people didnt turn up (no casino and somone else was missing) will be interesting to see what happens this time.

This really does not sound right. Have you had a letter from the administrator? These will have been appointed by the Court and they should have contacted you!! I personally would be contacted the CAB for advice.

That's such a shame as its a lovely venue. It could be nothing to worry about, but if you have insurance you will be able to claim back nothing you have lost on your deposit. If your wedding is not for a while I wouldn't panic yet, start considering a plan b but if it isn't closing and is just changing hands (although possibly the same hands and just changing name) and you like the venue, then it shouldn't have an impact x

We stayed with them until the beginning for February. Our wedding has been booked there for nearly a year. We get married in October this year. I've given notice at the registrar, paid out to secure Kirklees registrar, sent out save the dates and paid over £200 for invitations, menus, r.s.v.p etc ALL with Hey Greens details on them.

I have heard nothing whatsoever from the management team at Hey Green since the beginning of January when we were told it was business as usual and not to worry. it was only when I called Kirklees Register Office to arrange sending a cheque for over £300 that I was informed that Ms Hunter, the director of the company was avoiding phone calls and that there were a few issues that needed addressing. I got straight on the phone to BDO, The administrators to find out just what was going on and was told "off the record" to look for another wedding venue and cut my losses. As you can imagine, I was devastated. Since then, I have secured a new venue but have lost well over £1000. The stress has been unbelievable. What really sticks in my throat tho, is that the management team and directors have been allowed to move to a new venue without anyone so much as challenging them. I have been told that I will not be able to claim back my £500 deposit that was paid to Hey Green Ltd and that these deposits which were supposed to be refunded after the wedding anyway were never paid into a deposit account and basically the money is gone.

In total I have probably spoken to Siobhan about half a dozen times since December and never once has she been truthful about what was actually going on. I have never had an explanation or an apology in writing, email or in a telephone call. The last 4 weeks have been an utter nightmare. I am just glad that I had 8 months notice to sort an alternative out. I know for a fact that Hey Green had 33 weddings booked at the venue this year alone. The website doesn't say anything at all about the closure and in actual fact is still advertising wedding dates that are still available. SHOCKING!

I have spoken to several brides now. We ditched HG within two days of that email in November. I was annoyed as we had only given notice the week before.

Huddersfield knew nothing until I called them. The registrar even called me back to say I was correct! I was lucky enough to find a new venue amd cancelled with Siobhan but not without a few questions first. I asked about deposit which she told me was safe amd returnable. Bullsh*t No 1. I asked her to her face weeks before why the property was up for sale. She told me it wasn't. Bullsh*t #2. She told me she was buying the property. Bullshi*t #3 I could carry on all night. She lied to staff she lied to us she lied to suppliers. We lost deposits suppliers and cash on stationery. Dolman and Hunter Enterprises Ltd is now the new company running Clough Manor. Guess who the Directors are ...........

Sounds like she's given you the exact same story as me. Huddersfield filled me in on a few things and then I went digging to get to the bottom of it. I'm lucky enough to have friends and family who are in contact with a couple of venues in the area and they filled in a load of gaps for me also. I am absolutely raging over the whole business. Even the administrators know hunter and Dolman had pulled out of the purchase and they didn't even have the decency to be upfront. Have you seen the most rent article in the Huddersfield Examiner highlighting the fact that hey green has now sold to an undisclosed buyer and that it is definitely NOT going to continue as a hotel. There is also a note to suggest that as we are now creditors to Hey Green Ltd, there may be a possibility of claiming back the deposit. I'm calling BDO first thing tomorrow and speaking to Stephanie Baker to find out if this is true.

Ive been lucky enough to find a beautiful new venue but its over in Chorley so I'm having to expect my guests to travel further than I initially wanted. It's all been such a mess. A mess that could have been avoided if the truth had of been told in the first place.

I love Cough Manor but I will NEVER set foot in there as long as those two are running it. I'm not sure I would be able to keep my mouth shut.

Stephanie had ignored all xalls and emails brfore xmas. BDO are as shady as HGLtd. As unsecured creditors we shojkd get some back but as little as 43p per £ according to the proposals. I am still mad now. I am now getting married in Cheshire. I would love to know why she has been allowed to take the details of existing brides with her!!! That is not how administration works!!!Yes I have seen the new piecin The Examiner. Only because my mum saw it in Holmfirth last weekend. We aren't local. Clough Manor weddings in 2013 will be a sham because they're running them. How would they manage to do that and pay back those deposits! There was a total deposit amouny worth 49 couples. Not on and fraudulent.

Jas anybody else completed the form for a meeting and sent it to court? It was the first form on the proposals letter. It would be interesting to find out exactly what is going on in person.
