Cake topper help- please flash!

cookiekat, 12 of April of 2012 at 18:30 Posted on Planning 0 65

Really struggling with this...

Where did you get yours from?

How much was it?

How long did they take to make( if bespoke)?

And give us a flash!

I haven't actually got mine yet but I've ordered some from a lady on eBay, she's called finnart or something like that. They are made of clay and she personalises them with your outfits, hair colour, heights, flowers. She has an offer at the moment for a bride and groom for £45 instead of £60, I bought one that has a pageboy as well for my son for £55.

I got mine from Garden4Arts in New York on Etsy. With postage to the UK it was about £45 and it took just over 3 weeks to get to me. Here is a flash:

Mine is a bespoke one. It's from a lady on eBay can send you the link if you're interested. She advertises them for £65 Buy It Now plus P+P but always has a few on at a time for bidding, I got mine for £30.99 plus P+P and mostly they seem to sell for around this price!

I don't know exactly how long it will take to make as she takes advance bookings and then just makes it/sends it out nearer to the time of the wedding, she's currently advertising from weddings from October 2012 onwards which I see from your ticker is too late but if you really like it she was very accommodating for me and very friendly so if you email her she may be able to do you a rushed order!

I couldn't find any I liked other than these ones! The detail, I think, is amazing!

    Anyway here it is:

They are based on my cat! I know she has made all black cats for someone else. The flowers, ties etc were based on our colour scheme.

This isn't actually my cake topper and is just an example...we don't have a dog lol so won't have one on the topper...my bad for the example I chose!

Although her auctions do say this is for a bride and groom topper and email for a quote for extra people, pets etc so yes she may charge a little bit more!

Ours was from MyMiniYou (same as tallgal!).

It cost £159 and has taken about a month with various approval photos during the process.

    This is us as baldies:

And now with hair and bodies:

Can I just advise you NOT to buy from the wedding topper workshop. I realise it may have just been a one off, bad make, but the personalised toppers she made from me were awful.

One breast was escaping from the dress & much larger than the other, there were flecks of brown clay on the face & also down one entire arm, my white wedding dress was made in a grey clay, my white & pink orchid bouquet was made into a green & white one, there were fingerprints all over the clay & I could go on. I realise that no one would look as closely at the toppers as myself, but the finish was crude & looked very rushed.

I cant remember what I paid, but I did get a partial refund on the end. Make sure you leave plenty of time if you want a recommended supplier, 6mths or more if possible.

I'm being a tad boring and having flowers on top to match our bouquets, so can't flash any people, sorry. But there are lots of people who do bespoke toppers to look just like you (I love the idea but can't really justify the ££s)

We have orderd ours from Cherry Top Models http://www.cherrytopmodels.co.uk/page_1521704.html

She will make them to your requirements - for ours she is doing two motorbikes and us holding hands. I love them because they are made of clay and will last forever. We will take them to the Bahamas, use them there then transport them home and use them when we have our party here too. Very reasonable cost - for us and two bike it was about £75

I don't think we've even considered wedding toppers!!

Our cake is Star Trek themed in itself so it would probably just end up OTT.
