Greg took the opportunity to share the engagement news comes just one day after he announced he was switching his drive time show with fellow Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw and taking over the Breakfast Show.
Posting on Instagram on Friday morning, Greg shared the
following statement with his 804,000 followers: “Oh while we’re doing
announcements, here’s something else… I’m having the time of my life and
enjoying my work more than ever. I feel really content and it’s nice to have my
sh*** together before I undertake a huge new work challenge.”
Greg went on to introduce Bella to his fans and reveal their exciting news: “One of the main reasons for this happiness is
because I met this person. This is Bella and in February she asked me to marry
“I said yes immediately because she is the smartest, funniest
and most beautiful person I’ve ever met. The only problem is she loves staying
up into the early hours of the night drinking as much as I do and this is not
conducive with 5am alarms.
“That said, it’s been quite a year.”
Greg's announcement has caused a little bit of controversy however, due to the fact Bella popped the question.
"I must be getting old. I want to be the woman in the
relationship & I'm not proposing on bended knee to any guy," wrote one online commenter.
However, there were lots of comments from fans on Greg's Instagram seeing the wonderful side of Bella's proposal.
Becky Hartnett wrote, "I love that Bella asked you to marry her, sign of a strong
woman, she know what’s she wants! Lucky boy x congratulations on all your new
Lily Pickard added, "Part of my heart is breaking over Greg James getting engaged
but the other half is soaring that his girlfriend proposed to him!!! GIRL POWER."
We love the fact his girlfriend broke all traditions and decided to get down on one knee herself to propose. It is 2018 after all!

It does seem like Greg really is having "quite a year".
Nick Grimshaw broke the news to his listeners live on air Thursday morning that Greg would be replacing him, saying that "the time was right" after six years presenting the Breakfast Show.
Commenting on his new role, Greg said: "I'm completely beside myself that I've been given the chance to present the most famous radio show in the world. It really doesn't get any bigger than this and I really want to build on the great work Grimmy has done."
What do you think of her gesture?
